Can't reach anything from my desk or home but my transit commute covers a lot of shops and spawns.

There is a pokestop at the park here. But I've gotten some decent spawns at home. Couple eevees, one high level, and some other stuff. lots of basic low level stuff as well to level up.
West Ed and Downtown are pretty good places to go for a lot of stops and gyms.
Somebuddy has been playing more than me ... lol
Griesbach is supposed to be a serious place to play.
Chicken For Lunch has been buying lures I believe, they posted about it on FB yesterday
There were so many people out yesterday playing Go it was surprising, even at the bar. Nintendo's share price doubled after the launch -> http://www.cnet.com/news/nintendo-shares-more-than-doubled-since-pokemon-go-launch/
So... It's just about collecting, right? You don't actually do anything with them once you've collected them?
You actually can fight at gyms.
I'd try to post a photo of my stats, but I can't load it atm :(
Yeah server issues today. We took over a gym at NAIT today, guys in my office.
Play includes the following:
- going to key way-points to get free supplies such as more pokeballs (pokestops)
- Roaming around to discover pokemon ( the hot cold style tracker indicator is currently broken)
- leveling up and evolving pokemon to fight at the gyms
- traveling to friendly gyms to train pokemon or add them to the gym to defend it
- Traveling to rival gyms to fight and get rewards or to take them over
- lure modules can be placed at pokestops to attract pokemon to the location for all players in the area
- incense can be used to attract pokemon to you they don't appear for other players
- incubating eggs collected from pokestops, this is done by distance traveled.. 2km, 5km and 10km eggs exist
Future play:
- Trading direct between players (original goal)
- Possible direct local battle system between players. (possibly only rumor)
Edit:notes on Future Play
I really hope they manage to make a direct local battle system that won't lead to mass street fights, or murders :o not sure how though...

Trading was already supposed to be in as a goal, player vs player battle is more of a rumor but likely feature.
I collected a crap load of pokeballs, but damn you start going through them pretty quick.... Im out. :(
My backpack is always full I have over 200 Pokeballs right now... While I can hit shops like crazy on my commute I only get a few pokemon each time.. Don't have a lot of time to walk the parts at least during the week... Might have to power level this weekend.
I got a few lucky eggs, going to use them and evolve a few pokemon to super level a bit.. Want to checkout the gyms, really haven't had a chance or a pokemon high enough to even try.
Ive traded in a crap load of crap pokemon. Or id have a full bag probably.
At the park now just camping the item spawns lol. I have a lure module but I don't want to use it till I have a crap load of pokeballs.
I've had some success for some Pokies...
Anyway here are my three screens.
Also I am going to add some great links to the OP once I collect them, so you have them in one place.
Just caught this:
Ive since powered it up, to 276.
Added some links to OP
You guys should really check out this link I added: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bgeFZl3_XfcvWF0DdYp27WWRpFdckM2BFywZt3q17VA/edit#gid=572454033, crazy the amount of time needed to level.
D&D always had that same problem - if you continued to gain xp at the same rate at level 20 as you did at level 1, it would take forever. So instead you fought and killed bigger monsters worth more xp. I'm sure the same will happen with Go eventually.
But doing that would get rid of most of the incentive to pay for pokecoins! There's a reason its set up the way it is.

In Go currently it actually takes more time to level as you go up. The number of escapes you see with higher level mobs increases, while you can get higher level balls to reduce this they are more rare so over all you can spend a lot more time catching things at the higher levels for the same XP.
Things like egg hatching and evolving pokemon however do give you big boosts as you go.
One power leveling technique is to amass a bunch of candy for cheap to evolve pokemon like the pidgy , then save up a bunch of them, also watch when your eggs are about to hatch.. You pop a lucky egg for double XP then mass evolve them.
Play with the Pokemon tool as well. You'll see there are benefits on how you evolve your Pokemon.
Ok, this game is starting to piss me off.
Trying to catch a 240cp Eevee, and the pokeballs started to curve to the left and right with little sparkle trails... Now they are just being down right evil about wasting pokeballs. eeefff.
Welcome to Pokemon hahahahah
Its like they are intentionally trying to waste pokeballs in the most evil way possible. I understand a pokemon escaping the ball and/or running away, but making the balls curve wildly to the side for no good reason?

Its better than the game where you throw the ball and then you have to wait about 20 nerve wracking seconds for it to stop wiggling
Heh, well I don't mind that so much.. Like the pokemon don't want to stay... But making the ball just randomly curve just to waste your balls is just there to cause more grinding, or grab more money.
Twirling your finger causes you to throw a curve ball. While I haven't seen it curve on its own I have certainly intentionally done it.
What makes me mad is feeding them the raspberries and they still escape and run away.

I've done curve balls, but they don't generally have funky sparkles around them when they curve. First time i've seen that happen, and it was after a razzberry. maybe that caused it, I dont know. but it pissed me off >:(

When you spin the curve ball to the max it sparkles... When my hands get sweaty my accuracy goes all over because it messes with the touch sensor.. Also if you have you phone plugged in to a cheap charger the interference can really mess with the sensor as well .
I've never, ever seen it do that before. I was throwing like I was before. I don't think my fingers or screen were covered in anything..

Hmm, others have reported similar things.. so it could be just crap game mechanics.. Does it happen with specific pokemon? maybe they can deflect them at higher levels?

It was a rather high level Eevee. Maybe. I don't know. But I have seen pokemon actually knock a pokeball away, as well as dodge. I don't know why they'd add another mechanic for pokemon to escape capture.

My kids been playing since CDN launch, but ^ this kind of thing is something I only heard about today -- businesses using this viral game for advertising. SMRT!
Some cafe in the US figured out the ROI on buying lures and it turns out it's actually pretty good. I'll see if I can find the article, they crunched the numbers for other business owners.

McDonalds is buying its own Stops and Gyms..
From what I've heard, its very worth it for most business.
Chicken for Lunch is doing it down town, but I think we might have mentioned that already.
I think they are just using existing stops/gyms. Mcdicks has made a deal with the Pokemon company to make all restaurants stops and/or gyms.
Walked a few km to hatch some egg, used a lucky egg to double XP and evolved a bunch of Pokemon.

Dang son.
I should note that the walk is a about 6km and something I was doing before Pokemon. Just have been slacking lately. Felt good.
So many other players out there this game really connected with a lot of people.

Love this at NAIT! With all the summer camps going on the keep doing this for the kids, and indirectly for me!!!
I've got a lure module, and a lucky egg to pop tonight :D
We're trying to get out more, even if its just to the park.
I didnt end up having to use a single luremodule. People were installing them one after another for a couple hours lol.
I did use the lucky egg though, and evolved a crap load of pokemon.
I'm going to count myself fortunate that my old phone can't run this game

I was teathering last night to surf and watch twitch/YouTube while waiting for ten pokemans.

I meant wifi tethering :p
Using USB OTG to do it would be odd. You want the USB free for charging. Pokego is a battery monster.
The kids wanted to play so I setup all there iPads to connect to my phone and we went around, tired them out. Plan to do it again today.
Had to have a portable power unit (external battery) connected to my phone because of the battery drain however.
Yeah I have a 10Ah battery I can hook my stuff to. But Mila's phone doesn't seem to be able to charge itself fast enough even on a 2A plus charge port to keep up with the Pokemon battery drain. Kinda sad.

Ya the game requires full screen time, a radio and the GPS running at the same time.
Power management is something that isn't so hot on some phones.
http://www.businessinsider.com.au/pokemon-gos-decline-is-already-under-way-2016-7
The game is unquestionably YUGE but the big jump is Nintendo stock price is unsupported by the game's adoption... not to mention how fast popular games become faded memories in the mass consciousness. Because SCIENCE.
They are going to need a string of content updates to keep people interested for use.
Much of the game depends on gimmick right now (AR mode) that fades after a short time.
At this point I don't think retention matters:
Quote#PokemonGO has made 38.5 billion dollars in two weeks, passing Sony.
https://twitter.com/PokemonGoTech/status/756209141320916993
I have never been able to get ALL the kids out on a walk so often or for so long without complaining... It has been good for that, for sure.
38 billion? That is insane :o

...as a follow-up to my statement about Nintendo share price boost being over valued. The correction already is happening -- after peak it dropped more than 20% over 2 days.
Added lucky egg calculator to OP
Pokemon DB to OP, which can tell you what is the best DPS combo for attacks on a Pokemon.
Started playing again after the new movie came out and the kids got interested again.
New mission system requires me to add 3 new friends to compete a mission if anyone is still playing and wants to trade friend codes
- gyms now have random raids
- there are monthly events
- player to player trading
- player vs player battles
- weather bonuses
- way more Pokemon
Still the same basic game however, the weather is good so it has me walking extra km in the day which is good.
