lol same

Oddly enough when building stuff I tend to run out of full stacks of breads sometimes and resort to delicious ambulatory leftovers (aka Zombies)

I just read that LennyLen's got a mob xp farm?  Lenny, you willing to share its location?  I've been trying to find a non-cave-spider mob spawner to set one up myself, but have had no luck thus far...

That's the one I used for the XP farm.

So I found a skelly spawner a couple blocks underground yesterday, east of Frontier Station.  I built the water elevator / drop trap XP farm out of it.  Because it was so close to the surface, the elevator and drop stick out of the ground: http://mc.tomasu.org/#/120/64/655/max/0/0.

The easiest way to get to it is to go to Frontier Station, then on the south side of said station there is a path and a door leading to an underground passage: http://mc.tomasu.org/#/61/64/707/max/0/0.  There's a sign, so if you turn on Major POIs on the map you should see it.  The underground passage is about 120 blocks, and leads to the spawner as well as a room hollowed out for storage and a bigger room hollowed out for an enchanting table (future plans!).

Man, it's easy to get bonemeal and arrows now!  And if you're starting off in Spawn City, just get to the above-ground Pineview Station (a short walk from the underground Pineview Station, hidden behind Lucky's tower: http://mc.tomasu.org/#/-2/64/191/max/0/0), then take the C line to Southern Junction Station (http://mc.tomasu.org/#/-34/64/571/max/0/0), then the D line to Frontier Station.

Oh, and I plan to make it all much prettier :)

I made a video of my xp farm a bit earlier tonight: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Y-uixb3HkA

Wow, 28 levels worth of experience orbs takes two and a half minutes to absorb?!

So I'm a numbers guy, so here's some numbers.  You went from just under level 7 (121xp) to three bars over level 35 (2,319xp). 2,319xp - 121xp = 2,198xp.  Those three bars are probably 20xp, so I'm rounding that up to 22x.  2,198xp + 22xp = 2,220xp.  Skellies are worth 5xp each.  2,220xp / 5xp/skelly = 444 skeletons killed!  You probably averaged 500 arrows and 800 bones!

Not bad for an hour and a half idling and having to brew a potion (of healing II) before that.

Still, it showcases how hard it'll be to get all the way up to level 50.

One thing to note, I think that grinder may be causing lag occasionally. Something about it seems to cause the minecraft server to get stuck somewhere. So if you find yourself disconnected when idling at a grinder, its because the server was restarted. fyi.

k, and mine's not under water so if I get spawned up top I won't have to panic :)  Too bad if it really is the grinder causing lag.

What ever it is, it doesn't always happen. It could just be a weird random quirk. server gets stuck using 20-80% cpu or so, and nothing but a full shutdown and startup of the minecraft server settles it.

I'm pretty sure that's just minecraft.net.

Sorry I meant connecting to your server, not Minecraft login.

It's a lengthy wait at times and I had a couple of dropped connections last night.

If its on login, the server itself has to connect to minecraft.net to authenticate you, after you authenticate. It's annoying. Usually that's why it times out before the actual map loads.
