Create a charcoal farm, trade charcoal for emeralds with blacksmiths and butchers (16-23 charcoal for 1 emerald), trade emeralds for glowstone with priests (1 emerald for 2-3 glowstone).  Blacksmiths, butchers, and priests are all pretty common in villages.

I managed to find a whack of glowstone dust in the Community Storage

Also I mined out a TON of sand and found about 6 stacks hidden in one of my buildings so while i was putting up pillars glass was cooking.

I ended up cheating a little because I still ran out after I did the big windows and smaller skylights and just wanted to be done haha

He cheated! Not only did he fly, he spawned in some blocks

I thought you said in one of your posts that you had to go into creative to get the stuff at the top?

I did, I ran out of glass that was it, I had already done the tricky bit (those darn stairs to the roof!!)

Once I had enough glass I just stepped them up and was done.

It was the easiest part I just ran out of material.

No, I mean that's why I thought you said it was all for naught and he'd have to start over - I thought you were telling him that his work was lost due to map editing.

I'm not entirely sure how you got from point A to point B there... I was replying to a bit where he was cheating. Obviously that means the whole thing is spoiled and has to be done from scratch
