Title: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
Post by: Lazybones on May 27, 2022, 01:12:01 PM
Anyone else really enjoying this one so far?

- return to episodic content
- not overly dark
- not overly dramatic
- likable characters?

Much like lower decks I think this one strikes a good balance of being its own thing so far but still giving us lots of hooks to previous cannon.

I'm really looking forward to seeing it, everything I've heard has been positive

Yeah, it's way way better than Star Trek: Discovery.  ST:D is just garbage throw-@%&#-at-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks story writing.  Soooo many plotholes, I just can't suspend my disbelief.

I also like ST:SNW better than Star Trek: Picard, just because ST:P is leaning too much on nostalgia and again has some plotlines (and also completely retcons a bunch of ST:TNG lore).

I like the episodic story format, I like the actors, I like that we're back to exploring space and asking moral questions (while not shoving morality down our throats).

I completely forgot about Star Trek: Prodigy, just added it to my download-n-watch list.

I like Prodigy... thought it was well done.  Please don't spoil Picard or SNW, as I am letting the both build (although I think Picard might be finished) before Maria and I watch it.

So! I watched SNW last night and I was happy with it. It's basically what I want from Trek
