It could work.... the effects and camp level seem to be in check.
The last line in the trailer however makes me think it will also actually be funny.

It's actually written and directed by people whom have a good track record based on their previous works. And the third writer is the guy from the cartoon and previous movie. I suspect he is there for D&D genre consulting
