I'm looking to get back into a comic book... any that stick out in your mind?
Sorry, I must have missed this post, what's your flavour. Do you prefer Marvel brooding, DC action, Indie attitude or Dark Horse / Image sex n' gore?
Little into everything really. Wouldnt mind a good classic, or soon to be, also you can never go wrong with sex and gore. Spawn still out there? or has it lost its flavor?
Well, one of the hottest series to come out of Marvel for a while is X23, the story centers around a clone of Wolverine that has been through a similar process to add adamantium to the skeleton (retractable claws et al), the surprise with this series is that X23 is a teenage girl (so, a gruff, Wolvie-like teen girl if you can imagine that). It's brought much needed character back into the lacklustre Marvel stories of late.
On the DC front (which has been hot lately) the Green Lantern Reborn series is flying off the shelves. Day of Vengence (wich should come out April 1st) is looking pretty swell and is drawing some attention, might be worth checking out. Superman #215 will be enjoying it's second Jim Lee cover. Keep your eyes out for a Lex Luthor standalone series and never forget the JLA and Action Comics are still going mighty strong and are fun to read, DC is finally getting back to Pre-Crisis style plots that will undoubtedly bork the DC universe for years to come but it's more funner for everyone. The Superman series is also heating up as buzz for the upcoming film is stirring up Supes' fans everywhere. It is also noteworthy that DC has a huge collection of graphic novels that collect years of comics together into handy-dandy volumes.
I'm not really all that up on the Image / Dark Horse scene, but I suspect it's business as usual for those boys.
Thanks for the input. X23 sounds interesting. A new Superman movie would be great with all the advancements in graphics and such. I wished they would have made Spawn a "R" movie. Just terrible to make a rated XXXXXXXXXXXX comic into a pG13 movie. Green Blood!! makes me sick.....
