Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man

Apparently Robert Downey Jr. will be portraying Iron Man on the big screen, according to Cinescape.  I imagine playing an alcoholic shouldn't be that much of a stretch for him, with his history of substance abuse.  He is a descent actor, so we'll see.  What do you comic book guys think?  I didn't read comics much growing up, so I'm not qualified to have an opinion on this.
