Mr. Analog

I dunno, all I want is my gaming rig back :D

Ok, so it looks like the problem was power supply and maybe motherboard grounding. I bought a brand new PSU (and vid card) and everything seems to be fine now (hooray)

Time to sign up for Fraga :D

Glad you got it figured out! Two people I know of who replaced their PSUs in the last day :o

Indeed. Bad power is really hard on components too. Could easily kill your hardware.

That's for sure, I was afraid of killing the board

As I said to the other guy, I hope you didn't go for a cheap/budget PSU. Every time I had one, it only lasted a year or two. Pretty pointless, specially when the gradual decline of a psu will end up killing more hardware, and end up costing you far more than the 50-100% price increase of a decent or high end unit.

I picked up a Corsair PSU, nice modular cables, a little ugliness on the connectors but otherwise good.

I've used Corsair PSUs in the past so I think I'm in the clear for a while.

Oddly, I can hear bearings on one of the fans on my other rig now... Yeesh if it's not one thing it's the other!

Well, taking advantage of that Tax break, I myself have a new rig.  But like my last purchase, it is a lappy, and it is fantastic!  I think I'm done with the gaming rig as a desktop now.  Lappys for me are about the same price as a new gaming rig, and come with specs that are great for gaming.  Plus hitting those LANs/Frag is a breeze :D.

Now that I have two that can play games, Lazy you should come down for Frag this year... you can just borrow a lappy :D

So wait, you wrote off a laptop for your business, but you're using it for entertainment? ;) ;) ;)

Well to dust off a Nagtagaalism: "I see" said the blind man to the deaf bat...

Coming from the angle of a consumer who can't write off a new lappy every two years the desktop will continue to be the way to go unless hardware upgrade cycles dramatically change in the near future. Y'know the only game that's really lagged on my system lately was the Mafia II benchmark (which is unpossible). I'm just hoping that Portal 2 and BioShock Infinite aren't particularly system raping (though I should be good for a while now given my current spec).

Also, call the cops, we got us a Thread Hijacker! :P

But yeah, Lazy? You gotta come to Fraga this year, it's practically* walking distance from the airport!
