I think there's a way to set up semi-permanent portals with the Portal Gun mod isn't there?

That would reduce travel time
You can also look into Mystcraft portals, and the interage linking books (as in jumping inside an age via a book).

Yeah! I keep forgetting about mystcraft
And books are a LOT cheaper than the portalguns are now. Man...

Then that may be the way to go :)

So you can set up books within the same dimension eh?

Yeah I think they are called interage linking books.. or might be called following books. I cant remember exactly. They aren't "normal" mystcraft books, they require some extra work.

Hah! Linking is the one page on the FTB wiki that's currently blank
By Grabthar's Hammer

Lazybones

The FTB wiki is full or random blank pages.

Mr. Analog

The front page thankfully links to the individual mod wikis

The only time things get annoying is if a mod creator wants to keep certain recipes secret (and forces you to go elsewhere for information) [I'm looking at you IC2]

Trapped in a HORRIBLE dimension full of nausea and sickness!

Before leaving the house I tried going to the "a dungeon" dimension in the mining age and found there's absolutely no way out.

When I log back in I'm going to need someone to op me so I can get out.

Thx

got it sorted thanks to sev

If you ever find yourself trapped in another dimension with no way back make sure you are opped and run the following console command:

/tpx 0

Nope. You guys crashed it >:(

Seems it used up all 3GB of assigned java heap space, and redpower was having troubles with that.

Still having issues. I'll let you guys know when its back to normal.

I changed texture packs while playing, don't know if that would cause problems but that's where I noticed things start to get buggy

Tom

I tried giving it 8GB ram, and it still uses it all up, and eventually dies. So no ftb server till I hear back from the ftb people.

Mr. Analog

I'm already going into withdrawal symptoms
By Grabthar's Hammer

Mr. Analog

If it helps this is what was happening just before I crashed:

-Sev had been carving a massive swath out of the mining age, the machine hit a snag on something and he ended up logging off to go to bed

-I had been using linking books between my hobbit hole in the overworld and my quarry in the mining age, I crafted a chicken chunk loader and placed it near my quarry. I collected wood from my automated tree farm and then I went back to the overworld and used the induction furnace to burn up a couple stacks of wood for coal

-while in the overworld I set my draw distance to far and changed texture packs (Sphax 64)

-Things lagged out pretty badly so I logged out and then back in again

-Things were still very laggy but I went back to the mining age via linking book and started putting coal into my stirling engines

-I tried logging out and found that I couldn't log back in

Lazybones

If I had to guess I would guess the mega digger that sev built could be an issue.

Textures should be local.

Draw distance should only have impact while online.

Mr. Analog

Not sure exactly, all I know is things got real bad real fast :C
