NPD scales back data releases to the public

So I thought I'd actually try and find real NPD data rather than re-interpreted, collated versions of it.  Turns out that NPD is scaling back what data it is releasing to the public.

Is that a good thing?  Maybe.  In my search for NPD data, I came across an explanation of how to interpret Macromedia sales data and realized that NPD data is substantial, dense, and difficult to properly comprehend and is often interpreted several ways by several reviewers.  Which, of course, always ends up sparking fanboy feuds.  Then again, I tend to agree that video game sales data needs to be better reported to ensure mega-corporations like Sony don't succeed at pulling the wool over our eyes.

Oh well, I guess nexgenwars.com and vgchartz.com will see more traffic as people hungry for stats start looking elsewhere.
Prayin' for a 20!
