apparently "no election until the spring". Not sure what her policies and management style are, but here at Ag I feel our nose is clean so probably Business As Usual here.

I am somewhat surprised she is being labeled "socialist" - methinks too many Alberta political reporters have been watching US stations.

Nevertheless, I'm glad to hear that she intends to restore funding for education.  It'll be interesting to see how she plans to balance (or not balance) the budget to do so.

This year I got charged more than $200 per kid for "free, universal" education.  That's not bussing, that's not pens and paper, that's not new clothes or specialty clothes (indoor shoes for at school only, gym clothes), that's just for my child to be allowed to come in the door and sit in a classroom.

Kids determine our future - when we retire, they're paying taxes to support us.  The better educated they are, the more money they make, the more they can be taxed.  Same as us paying taxes for our parents now.  Yes, I know that a lot of people are saving up money to have comfortable retirements, but retirees still drive on roads that are paid for by taxes (etc).

To be completely honest, I did not follow the appointment race nor the political platforms of each candidate this time around.  When I heard on the weekend whom would be taking over, I really didn't have much of a reaction at all.
