Thought I'd mention I'm playing tonight for a couple hours maybe. If anyone also wants to play, woo.
Got bored, so I'm playing some more. I spawned a sheep in, cause there was only one left, and I'm far too lazy to go find another one. The chickens escaped? So I rounded them back in. A pig was in the wrong pen, so I moved him over...
And I've killed a bunch of cows. NO LEATHER. FFFUUUU. I may have to build a larger cow pen.
Oh and last night, I donated an anvil to spawn town, its located right by the enchanting hut.
How could there only be one sheep at spawn? We had, like, two dozen of each animal type at spawn...

There was a single sheep in the spawn pen. And none wandering around inside the spawn fence.
There were only two chickens, and two pigs iirc. 10 cows and some horses.. I think they glitch out of the fence and disappear, or people have been on a murderous rampage and neglect to restock.
I just made a mod to the mob grinder, hope noone minds. It now takes fewer hits to kill the skellies. I didn't have any quartz and didn't feel like going to the nether to get more (I have NO armor, and not much for supplies) so I used stone brick stairs to bring the floor down in front of the drop. Also doing that made the skellies get stuck on the side of the grinder, so I replaced the panes with solid black tinted glass, except for the bottom most pane in front of the grinder (which is also now black).
I may add a hopper under the drop, or a piston pusher to push the skellies forward, or just the loot (a few pieces get stuck at the back now).
Nice. I was going to get on last night but got into Breaking Bad again lol
I'ma playin some more mc :o
moar playing.
So... Have you been building anything? Or just collecting gear at this point?
I messed with the spawner if that counts. Been mostly just collecting resources and decent tools.
I'm thinking of installing a fishing shack @ spawn now that I have a rod with luck of the sea, lure, and unbreaking on it. It's pretty kick ass. I might install a chicken bell franchise as well. :)
A fishing shack would be cool. Don't forget to build one on a frozen pond somewhere, too!
Chicken Bell? Make an insane-flapping-but-never-lifting-off run for the border?

LOL! Where is the nearest frozen taiga biome? Or ice biome?

Haha, no. it'll be a mall food court sized version of my restaraunt with the chicken cooker that's at usamot spawn v2.

You need a "Gus Fring" skin...
Been busy with server changes?

Nope. uptimerobot has been having issues (http://blog.uptimerobot.com/performance-issues-any-false-positives-you-may-have-received/). Server is up right now, but this is what uptimerobot claims:
Odd that my other monitors seem to be correct? Any firewall changes on your end?

No firewalls on those boxes. :o also it only seems to be affecting those two minecraft boxes. its really strange.
Ya it is odd I was monitoring the Overviewer URLs as well and they where worse

Supposedly /some/ of their monitoring boxes were overtaxed. It could explain the oddness. But it may not. I complained to DigitalOcean first, and they found/saw nothing. I also see nothing in the server logs related to any of this. And I've gotten downtime warnings when actually connected to minecraft.
I was playing more last night and this happened:
(I got distracted...)
I was hoping on hoppin on but it seems down for me.

Which server? And which version of minecraft were you trying to use? I was just on Planet Bob which is 1.7.2 (so you need to use 1.7.2).
mc2.tomasu.org with 1.7.2
yeah, I was just on there. And just tried connecting again, it seems to work fine.
What happens if you try mc2.svc.tomasu.net or 107.170.226.228 ?
Hi Tom I think the problem with both the monitoring and server access are your DNS records
http://dnscheck.pingdom.com/?domain=mc2.tomasu.org×tamp=1409977929&view=1
I ran some tests from http://mxtoolbox.com as well your DNS is buggered in some way.
Lazybones noted to try accessing it by just inputting the IP. That worked.
Thanks

The dnscheck error is spurious, its checking a zone, but mc2.tomasu.org is a record, not a zone.
That said, it made me look harder, and svc.tomasu.net IS a zone (and mc*.tomasu.org are CNAMEs to mc*.svc.tomasu.net), and I checked that, and it's settings weren't exactly correct... So if this doesn't fix it, I have no bloody clue what it is.

well at the very least a 10min TTL is really low unless that is a dynamic ip

It was on a dynamic ip. But I've upped it to a day. should be ok. except now changes wont be seen for a day...

Are you saying you changed something in your DNS settings? Maybe Mr. A will finally be able to get to your servers without editing his hosts file or pointing at the Google DNS servers?

Yes. It looks like the svc.tomasu.net dns config was borked. i'm a little confused as to why it worked as well as it did... So yes. The problems people have been having with the actual domain names should be fixed (when ever dns updates around the world).
Well since most servers cached no record it probably will be fairly quick
So... the issues I've been having are at the server's end not mine. That would explain a lot

Maybe. Maybe not. I'm still getting a bajillion false positives from uptimerobot.
