Title: Any fans of Premium Craft Beer here?
Post by: Bixby on July 26, 2009, 09:25:48 AM
Since most of you are in Edmonton, I thought I would ask if there are any fans/drinkers of premium craft beer. A couple of years ago I discoverd the Sherbrooke Liquor Store when I was on a trip to Edmonton and my beer Fridge has never been the same since. Just curious if there are any other fans of the porters, ales and speciality beers here...

That'd be me.

Nothing better than hitting Alley Cat and checking out what's new or better yet, brewing your own.

My current favourite is BUB'S Lunch Pail Ale (http://ambersbrewing.com/beerblpa.html)

I gotta agree with you about Bub's (http://ambersbrewing.com/beerblpa.html).  That stuff is smooth and easy-drinking!  Turns out the guy who makes it is Todd's brother-in-law (you know, Todd from Highfield).  The guy's real friendly and personable (I think his name is Jim?  Only met him once at a BBQ at Todd's - he was handing out free beer).

And it's getting pretty easy to find Bub's (and Amber's other beers) in Edmonton: Where To Buy (http://ambersbrewing.com/Whereto.html)

Holy crap, I'll have to bug Todd next time I see him heh!

I gotta join the Edmonton's Home Brewer's Guild at the few meetings I've attended they've always shared out some great samples. I had this hefferveisen last year, man, I can still taste it...

Awesome. Now if any of you ever make it to Regina and have room in your truck... ;)

Glad to hear there are some folks that appreciate craft beer here. Some of my faves:

(1) Cannery Brewing - Naramata Nut Brown Ale
(2) Cannery Brewing - Maple Stout
(3) Rogue Brewing - Juniper Pale Ale
(4) Dieu Du Ciel - Route Des ?pices
(5) Tree Brewing - Hophead IPA
(6) Traquair House - Jacobite Ale
...and many more. :)
