There are at least 7 people I know of though it seems everyone plays at different times or logs in infrequently.

I've seen 4+ on at once.

Tom, Lazy, Mr. A., Mel, Stewie, Sev, Allefant - I guess I thought there was only four and seeing those other names made me wonder if it was turning into some over-populated server or something.

Also, nice thread split :)

Since the terrain is dynamically generated the only over crowding that happens is if you stick right near the original spawn point.

If I could have got the neither portal working two way I would have removed the ladder.

The portal does not seem to like how high up it is. I deactivated the two portals near it but it just created new ones on the return trip...

If anyone can fix the portal that would be great. The intention was for it to be in flight and not connected to anything.

The shape didnt turn out exactly as I wanted but after falling many times I opted to simplify.

On the plus side it was over water so hopefully not too many falling deaths :)

There is a reason the base platform is "now" only one block.

What's with the angry signs right in front of the Spawn Station entrance?

Somebody building over somebody else?

Angry Signs?  I know I'm a bit over top of Specter's place but am trying to make sure I stay above ground there.  And I'm touching the bridge with my new wall... maybe its me.

Hmmm just took a look....

Could very well be me... as one of my buildings is definitely on top of Specter's place... going to have to rip it all down over lunch.  Fill it all back in with dirt.

Might leave a sign not of my own apologizing... wish I knew for sure which structures they were discussing.

This is why I didn't start building until I was far away from the spawn point.

With lots uf underground stuff it is hard to track other users.

If it is the structures around the Superman symbol... and it is Stewie, can you let him know I am sorry and will be dismantling it at lunch.  I was thinking the area was getting cramped as it is anyway, and might begin a new project somewhere more remote.

If it's the seven signs centered on here: http://mc.tomasu.org/#/30/64/5/max/0/0, that's Stewie.  I guess there was actually some dismantling of stuff inside his main house.  And I don't think he realized the lava stuff was the Superman symbol (it doesn't look like it when you're standing right next to it trying not to fall in).

Yeah I fixed that last night by putting it under glass so you don't get hurt anymore, but I can move it all.  So it was me - and I never dismantled anything inside, so if that happened it was by accident or not me :(.  Again tell him I am sorry and I am going to rip it all down today and move it somewhere else.  I'll fill it all back in with dirt as best I can.

Heh, he might not notice as he became addicted to Skyrim over spring break.  I don't think he's been on in a while, other than when I first signed up.

He put them up the night I bought my account and started playing.  I was there when he put them up.

You know it's only been basically four days since I started playing, right?  Not long at all!  Except I've skipped too much sleep and am therefore further along than one would expect :)

It's ironman Minecraft :)

Although I haven't watched very much TV in the last few days, so that's a plus.  Gotta start setting timers, though, and writing down end-of-night notes so I know what I want to do when I pick it back up again.

Haha, no, Ironman Minecraft is playing on Survival mode (or higher) and then not reconnecting/reloading after you die :)

I think you mean Hardcore mode ;D It automatically deletes the world on loss. And you can't change difficulty modes while playing.

Before Hardcore it was informally called Ironman, SMP Ironman still exists for maps like Minecraft Survival Island though.

"ironman" is defined as a strong man of exceptional physical endurance, and is related to the concept of continuous activity for long periods of time.  Thus I used it to describe my night-to-day-to-night session.

I didn't know there was an SMP Ironman mode, though.

"hardcore" would be closer in definition to not reloading if you die.

And Tom, you're never allowed to put your server in Hardcore mode, you hear me?
Title: Re: Usamot Population
Post by: Mr. Analog on April 04, 2012, 11:27:12 AM
Well, it's self enforced.

Ironman as in endurance...

It's a lot tougher now that there's a hunger bar. Originally all you had to worry about was your hearts disappearing as you try to survive, now you have that AND you're working against time...

Hmm going to need to add a lava mote and piston doors to my house to keep zombies out. (they can break down doors in harder modes)
