I think the suggestion algorithm is broke.

Though I guess sometimes I'm not logged in to my account so it can't filter out things I'm subscribed to and just bases "suggestions" I may have already seen on the fact that I'm watching OTHER videos that are tangentially related

Actually even being logged into one account across different devices seems not to be aware that I've already watched some things so it suggests them anyway.

Agreed. It's not even the fact that it's videos I've already viewed, but that it used to mix those in with "hey, that looks cool, I'll check it out!" videos -- those are what seems to have vanished (or is becoming extinct).

Yeah, but what I'm saying is I don't think YouTube actually knows in all situations if you've watched something.

It knows on my home computer what episodes of a series I've watched, but not on my tablet, even though I'm logged into the same account.

...that's remarkably similar to how I see things (except make it much more washed out)

Maybe you guys are getting repeats just because you've been on Youtube so long that you've seen almost all of it?

Also if you are going to post youtube music links you might as well post the actual video (even if it is odd)

Oddly enough Mambo No. 5 (the 50s Perez Prado version anyway) is not subject to copyright, you can download it from Archive.org

I love Mambo No. 8, and I love the film Office Space too ;)

But yeah, I wish, we're doing a major refactoring today and every time I look out the window it seems to get sunnier haha ... oyyy

Tom

Today was fun. So was yesterday. I have some minor bits to do still, sorta kinda. not that important at this point in time.

But holy @%&#. I had this fancy little image selection widget all coded up for iOS, and well it worked rather decently, except it didn't handle scroll overshoot quite right, and fixing that.. well that took a rewrite! because safari is a pain in the ass. so now instead of using safari's native support for momentum scrolling, I got to reimplement it myself so I get to know when and where the scrolling is going to end. woo. the first version took a day or two to get working right, the "fix" (aka: rewrite) took another day and a bit. not fun.

More fun? that "not important" task is getting it to work with android. turns out android doesn't actually support the touch* events ::) WHY THE @%&# NOT??? god. what a useless browser. mobile browser that sends /mouse/ events in a mobile touch environment. I don't even.

So freaking tired.
