some of the YT comments point out that this is clearly a straight-faced HORROR/thriller, while the original classic was dark comedy with plenty of slapsticky cartoony violence... so it's not like this new film will attempt to take the place of the sacred cow here people, relax!



and look who is putting their money into this project: Wikipedia says "The director Fede Alvarez was hand picked by Sam Raimi himself and it is Alvarez's first feature film. The film was produced by Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert G. Tapert -- the writer/director, lead actor, and producer of the original trilogy respectively."

Possibility #1: Reboot Level TOTAL RECALL
Possibility #2: Reboot Level Star Trek (ymmv)


My hope, and expectation from the trailers, is that it will be like CITW when it comes to the horror/thriller component, delivering plenty of jumping in your seat, and INTENTIONAL cringing ... but doesn't try at all to be campy/darklyfunny since then it will just heap upon itself endless disdain from rabid fans of the original.
