I'm pretty sure there's been a fairly large resurgence in the popularity of text based games in the last couple of years, I saw a few people playing Zork (it "looked" like Zork to me) at Fraga.

anyone who likes games and/or storytelling just has to watch ANY of the videos on the Jason Scott channel @ Vimeo, they would be drawn into the world of Interactive Fiction just by hearing the guy's passion and humor bubbling forth.

His Defcon17 talk about getting sued for 2 billion dollars = easily worth wasting your lunch hour imo.
