Arrgh! I had the same problem with my legit version of Windows XP there is a problem when you get past the terms of service it tells me it can't read the disc. I had this happen before and it seems to be just those first few install files that it doesn't like... arrgh, I should have saved the disc image I had before... :(
I swear I will never BUY another WINDOWS OS again, my pirate copies have always worked.
More bull@%&#, even if I bypass the part where my ACTUAL disc gets stuck the drivers fail to recognize my HDDs. The burned version I happened to download was from France and no Keygen seemed to work with it at all.
I'm downloading some more ISOs but right now I'm pretty pissed off. Why can't a LEGITIMATE version of WINDOWS actually WORK!?!?
See if your drives are set to RAID mode, even if you aren't using raid, it can make your controller only work via special raid drivers, where as the non raid mode should work just fine with the ahci drivers that might exists in XP install disks (not sure, SATA might be too new. :o) I have heard people say they have gotten sata disks to work just fine when installing XP without having to insert a driver disk, but I usually don't buy it. ;)

Been there, done that avoiding RAID until I can buy a third disc, the problem is a bad Windows install disc. I'll give it to you if you want it, it is incapable of working.

I didn't intend to imply that you were actually using the RAID support. Just that if it happens to be enabled, it'll cause all of the drives to not be visible to Windows without the proper driver.

Nah, the RAID controller was disabled by default, I've made that mistake more than once, thanks :)

I bought my XP Pro disc last year at Futureshop, it never worked right from the start, bleh. I was able to download four virus-free versions of Win XP off of the Pirate Bay really quickly, in fact I'm responding from my new rig right now :)
