Well I didn't pickup my pre-order last night and probably won't be able to tonight, but DAMN those are high reviews.

At at least one review I read stated that Bioware successfully merged the best parts of 1 and 2 to make 3 nearly perfect.

I think the main thing for me comes out of Giant Bomb's review

QuoteGiant Bomb - 4/5
At the end of the day, Mass Effect 3 is a game for people who liked Mass Effect 2 so much that they absolutely need to see how it all ends. Despite claims to the contrary from the game's publisher, I really don't think newcomers will get much out of it at all. All it would take is getting to the new character creation screen and being forced to select between Numerous, Ashley, or Kaiden from a screen that asks you who died during your previous missions for a new player to realize they're being asked questions they couldn't possibly answer in an educated way.

The games haven't really grabbed my attention as much as I would have liked so I found it difficult to penetrate ME2 leaving ME3 pretty much untouchable for the short term at least.

It sort of reminds me of Ass Creed II, which I started off having fun at until the first jumping puzzle/race which sort of expected an understanding of the game mechanic which I just didn't have as I never played the first one.

I haven't kept up with the post-release response, but is this essentially true? (Yahtzee finally came out with his review just yesterday)

If you watch Zero Punctuation I think Yahtzee nailed it following some of the conversations online that I've read.

It's official I guess, "Bioware is now promising to release new endings to the game in the near future"

I wonder if the changes will remove the glitchtastic stuff listed here:

I haven't really read any of the new info today/yesterday. But last I heard, they haven't really promissed /anything/ other than "they are taking the fans views to hear" and will be doing /something/. But It doesn't seem like they'll be doing anything as drastic as changing the ending. Though I did read that they were planning on releasing extended DLC content /anyway/. Stuff that happens after the "end".
<Zapata Prime> I smell Stanley... And he smells good!!!

Really without following your links I have no idea what you are saying about Mass Effect.

Context or your own thoughts on matters would be greatly helpful.  Brain dumps confuse me and don't entice me to read on.

Well I didn't follow the links but I follow the context, Mass Effect 3 is getting new endings and some people are interested in this and others think it lacks artistic integrity (hmm 2 days in a row I've said "artistic integrity")

Anyway, the main thing that's arising from all this are discussions about something that's been developing for a few years, now that instant feedback is available should fans be shaping where a narrative story is going. Is artistic vision compromised (or enhanced) by instant feedback?

Not sure if that's where the links were going with the conversation but it is a hot topic lately.

Guess sometimes you just have to re-read the whole thread to figure out where a post is coming from.

Due to minecraft my copy of ME3 is still unopened so I haven't yet experienced the outrage that people seem to have with the "BEST" case ending in the game.

Well I guess I also have been watching the whole story from the sidelines developing for a while so I may have an advantage :/

Though I will say this, years from now meta conversation does become confusing

I refuse to read and follow any of the links since I actually want to play and enjoy the game..

Good idea, if you are planning to play it I'm sure it's an awesome investment of time, wouldn't want to waste that by knowing stuff in advance.
