Title: remakes/reboots THAT MAKE SENSE
Post by: Darren Dirt on January 27, 2020, 01:21:36 PM
Interesting story, bad execution (or has not aged well)

Example #1:

Logan's Run (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0402344/news) (too bad no news since 2016)

I've said this many times but Creation of the Humanoids needs a remake BADLY. Despite it's name and low budget it's a fascinating story that begs... BEGS! to be told again. The twist at the end and the ramifications that has on the rest of the story is amazing. I've written about this movie before but man, what you could do with it today...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Creation_of_the_Humanoids#1962

In a post-nuclear-war society, blue-skinned, silver-eyed human-like robots have become a common sight as the surviving population suffers from a decreasing birth rate and has grown dependent on their assistance. A fanatical organization tries to prevent the robots from becoming too human, fearing that they will take over. Meanwhile, a scientist experiments with creating human replicas that have genuine emotions and memories.

...

^ O_O Cool, sounds like something we wish the 2018-or-older Netflix would have picked up with a decent budget and made that happen :-\ ( The 2019+ version of NF would likely KathleenKennedy this IP :-( )
Or to be optimistic, maybe somebody will send this idea to Gravitas Ventures (https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?companies=co0220024)

PS: wow, those androids ( oops I mean synthetics ;-) ) sure remind me of something... something... (https://alienisolation.gamepedia.com/Working_Joe) (don't be hysterical (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ov2T-v9sb3Y))

PPS: "...for a film this boring, it's actually quite interesting"  :D

...but seriously, sounds like solid classic science fiction without the modern nonsense -- https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055872/reviews

BTW do you know if it was it based on this 1940s story?

I'm glad that I could spark interest in this old b-movie it's really deserving of a big budget remake.

So many crappy movies that could be modern classics...
