Post by: Mr. Analog on October 02, 2012, 10:16:15 AM
A fairly large explosion of racing fuel created a spectacular fireball in Winnipeg!

Kinda reminds me of the fireworks storage facility explosion in the Netherlands back in 2000: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6126121898177679789.  Wait for the second explosion; they show it in slow-mo afterwards and you can see the roofs of the houses lift off into the air.  The Dutch were basically out of space and built their houses right next to the fireworks storage facility, thinking that "explosives bunkers" would keep them safe.  23 died and 950 were injured and an entire neighbourhood was damaged with several streets simply flattened.

At least in Winnipeg they were smart and used land as a buffer around this dangerous storage facility: https://maps.google.ca/maps?q=40+Nicolas+Avenue,+Winnipeg,+MB&hl=en&sll=49.882693,-97.09676&sspn=0.00414,0.008256&oq=40+n&t=h&hnear=40+Nicolas+Ave,+Winnipeg,+Manitoba+R2J+0T5&z=16
