I stumbled across this forum seemingly randomly through something completely unrelated, and after a little browsing realized it is a super active 8 year old community of people from my home town (Edmonton). My curiosity is most definitely piqued. So if you don't mind me asking, who are you all, how do you know each other, and what is this place?
The forums where formed based on a group of Friends + Guild members of various games ranging from AC2, WOW, City of Hero's ETC... The core community of members still revolve around friends and fellow gamers for various games however there isn't much in the way of any MMO activity at this time... We are running our own Minecraft and Starbound servers however.
The lobby and various forums have grown into largely open discussion areas where we talk about all sorts of things that we would normally do when together but find easier to do on line as it is harder and harder to just meet up, particularly since some of us have moved.
We welcome any one who shares our interests and wants to chat or is interested in gaming with us.
Welcome to the forums!
I think it's older than eight years by now :) I think Righteous Wrath started as a clan in one of the MMO games. Said clan then needed somewhere to chat, and these forums were set up. The clan petered out, but friends and colleagues of clan members joined up. The focus eventually shifted from clan-based MMO discussions to just about anything. Many of the members are from Edmonton and surrounding areas, although there are members from other parts of Canada and a couple from other parts of the world.
Me, I joined up as a colleague of a clan member back in 2005, I think. Not to talk about MMOs (I'm generally not a gamer), but to talk about D&D (and plan get-togethers) and to talk about anything else that came up.
It goes back even further as many of us were banging around older forums as a group of friends and eventually created our own community here.
I'm sure a few of you can still remember the old TTZ forums and HyTek (man that seems so long ago now, wow)
Anyway welcome to the weirdness!
Yep we've been doing this little shin-dig here for many a moon. Wow has it been that long! Man am I getting old or what? Wait don't answer that.
Yes we are an Edmonton based community but are far beyond it's borders. Once we were primarily a Guild site but now we are so much more. Geeks and nerds, friends and people, some new some old, some young, some not so much any more. We talk about almost anything these days, but do tend to focus around technology and game still.
So welcome. If we look to be a good fit then by all means share some of yourself with us. If not, glad you could stop by.
Interesting thing to know: How did you end up here?

Geeks.
With history.
And VERY diverse interests as well... a few years back debates and even arguments about philosophy and politics often found their way into the mix of tech and gaming discussions.
Now we're older and wiser, and thus a bit more boring to observe. But to join us, now that is never boring!
(also, for some of us who refuse to give in to the Facebook or Twitter cults, this is the one place where regular a-synchronous conversations with friends of 15+ years can happen on a daily basis)
