It's been a long, long time since I turned on the radio and heard something that jumped out as a "gotta have it" thing, y'know?
Anyway, I got my first taste of Rival Sons' latest album "Great Western Valkyrie" this morning and I gotta say, next time I'm downtown I'm buying this disc right away.
Like I say, it's weird I haven't felt this feeling for so long. I mean I've gotten excited about online releases and whatever but to hear something at random on the radio and think "yes, this is something I need" has been a while
Here's the track I heard this morning:

Modern day Zeppelin. Awesome.

NAILED IT.
Diggin' it. In the middle of the song now and couldn't wait, had to post this immediately.
Reminds me of how I felt when I first heard "The Sheepdogs" -- I thought it was a rediscovered classic* rock song from 30+ years ago 8)
*sorry, I mean "boogie rock" (lol@wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sheepdogs))

Reviewing the band's album Head Down for the BBC Greg Moffitt described the group's sound as "electrifying blend of Led Zeppelin, Free, Bad Company, Deep Purple, The Doors and a dozen others to exhilarating new heights.
I can not disagree at all!

I would expect they put on a hella good live show, too!
I know right!
It gives me some hope that rock and roll ISN'T dead, that good sounds can still happen in the mainstream. And like I say I'm still in awe that I heard it through the sludge pump that is local mainstream radio
I picked up the album yesterday and I've been enjoying it all morning. This is my summer soundtrack I think :-)
Hows the consistency A? Found their previous album a little all over the place. Some great tunes along with some real crap that sounded from a totally different band.

This album has a lot more standout tracks, there are one or two tunes that could have been changed up to make it better but still a good listen
