I found this via somebody somewhere mentioning "Megatokyo" which meant when I searched for it I ended up finding the "BAD WEB COMICS WIKI" entry for it ( http://badwebcomicswiki.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Megatokyo ) . Which of course promises to be far more fascinating than its actual official page...

Ugh it's a place for dip@%&#s like Unencyclopedia where they throw salt vaguely in the direction of things and get off to it in their little hate bubble.
Its done under the guise of satire (and man, it could have been brilliant) but often it just boils down to direct @%&# throwing which is sad in its own special little way.

As you said, once your consistent, dependable product or schtick or whatever hits a certain critical mass of popularity, you get a solid fanbase for life, but also out come the haters... who sometimes disguise their jealousy with humour (or attempts at it).
