If anyone has played World of Warships, this is basically a cross between that and TF2/Overwatch: https://www.greybox.com/dreadnought/en/, free right now to play as it is in open beta.
I could have sworn this was out already, maybe I'm thinking of something else
It's weird to read that you can play as a "sniper" class capital warship...

Yep. Played some of it today and those damn ships are tough cause of their range!
Yeah but, that's not a ship term or a spaceship term. It's jarringly out of place, other than clearly being a gamer term for gamers who have distilled every shooter game into a single experience. At which point, if it's not about the ships but instead about DPSing, tanking, sniping, why not just play CoD?

I think they are trying to bridge gaming terms into the game play to give gamers a quick understanding of each "role" a ship can play as. Nothing stopping you from changing the loadout of the ship and removing the option to be snipping. Some of the failures of the competition is not really understanding what role each "vehicle" plays in a vehicle team FPS game (World of Tanks, World of Warships, World of Warplanes, etc).
It should be of note that in the game they do NOT reference these gaming terms in the GUI, its only in the documentation that these are placed (to my knowledge).
So yeah while I could just go play CoD or Overwatch, I can tell that this game is unique enough to not make me want to (and I have a lot of hours in Overwatch which I still love playing).
To my fault, it's hard to describe to someone whom has no reference to any of the games I am using as examples as well.

So is there a "Tank" Boat?
Amphibious tanks are a real thing
