My Dyn account was up for renewal and I didn't feel like paying for the service since you don't get much for the basic price.
While doing a quick check of what my router supported for alternatives I discovered that zoneedit is free again (it wasn't for a while).
It offers BOTH dynamic DNS service (supported by many devices / clients) and full basic dns hosting for one custom domain.
This is an improvement over the basic DNS my Registrar offers + Dyn, so I thought I would mention it
zoneedit.com
I noticed that pfsense (IIRC) supports namecheap if you happen to use namecheap for dns on your domains there :D
I might be moving to that if I drop my self-hosted dns servers.

My domain is registered https://rebel.ca which was the cheapest at the time for a .ca.
I did notice namecheap support as well.
