Yeah but we could move it to a Category with Voice Channels rather than in General.
If you want to group the existing Text and existing Voice channel go for it. We really only have about 4 core users unless there is renewed interest.
Caves and Cliffs has changed a lot. The mountain generation around the new spawn is REALLY nice.

FYI via some non-op testing we have determined that the crops and chests inside the spawn 16x16 square (everything above and below) can not be opened or accesses etc.
The stuff in the shelter in the mountain side JUST outside that square can.
Question:
1. Should I shrink the spawn protection? And move everything outside that.
2. keep it as is and the 3 admins use it as protected farm space / storage?
3. Completely remove the protection zone and leave the design as is.
TBH I think you should leave it as is. The alcove with the beds is usable so I think it should be up to us to make sure there is food and supplies in the chest there

Just noting that non admins can't plant or harvest the crop that is in the square or open the chests, or use the crafting table in the center..
Curious to see if they can use beds in there.. I had plans to build a little town there with building but if none admins can't USE items it makes sense to just leave it a blank square.

I like the idea of building up and around the centre square

Because of how spawning works they would have to be buildings with flat roofs and stairs and the game will place you on top if you get sent back to spawn naturally.
The /trigger spawn command however seems to always drop you perfectly in the center.
Thanks for getting Overviewer going. Any chance we can views from the other angles? Sometimes it helps to see what's hidden behind a mountain, etc.
I see there's already a couple of cabins up and going, that's cool.
I wouldn't mind if spawn was de-protected once it's assuredly safe. At the moment it looks like mobs could drop off the overhang and into spawn to attack players.
Quote from: Thorin on December 03, 2021, 05:23:03 PMThanks for getting Overviewer going. Any chance we can views from the other angles?
Adding the view doubles the rendering time but that isn't bad once the initial render is done and the rest are deltas..
I have renamed the views and restarted a full render there is a radio button for North and South now what will show the previous default and now an opposite view.
Timber (https://vanillatweaks.net/picker/datapacks/) (/trigger TimberToggle to turn on and off for your self)
Trees now explode / fall with one block chopped out. There are some admin options that can be tweaked for this mode and you can turn it on and off as an individual.

Yup! You should get on with the fam and have a good ol' time with us
South view should now be south. However now I am tempted to add east and west.
Spawn area protection was reduced to 1 last night, it only protects the 3x3 around spawn now. Not sure if a NON admin can test.

Server updated
Server Version: 1.18.1

Last death location has been enabled in the BACK TP mod.

Server updated
Server Version: 1.18.2
One of my daughters has been playing again and notified me this morning as she has the launcher set to auto update.
Server is currently down for updates.
Server Version: 1.19
Server is back up, welcome to a new seed "WeDontNeedNoStinkingSeeds" and clean world.
Overworld map is "working" but does not contain any of the new 1.19 block types yet so expect gaps in any new materials on that map.
I have done basic testing, most scripts and backups appear to be working the same. I have changed how I am loading datapacks however. I am now using the SHARE code for vanilla tweaks mods, it SHOULD keep them up to date but we will see.
Please report any major issues ASAP in case of the need for the server or world to be reset for them. Otherwise it should all be good to go.
Well! I know what I'm doing tomorrow.
Thanks Lazy!
I found a zombie spawner right under spawn lol. Was trying to clear out a safe area and shelter and couldn't figure out why there where so many zombies.
Guess first project is going to be a zombie farm.
Ooo that's lucky! XP farm right at spawn.
Sorry I haven't been on yet, fighting with a few things today...
Server seems to be down. I got booted and can't reconnect. The overviwer map is also displaying old data.

Looks like it crashed and auto recovered.. Not much to go on in the logs.
Let me know if it happens again..
I have looked at Overviewer and did a complete reset on it last night however I think it was working correctly but just SLOW.
1. I have given Overviewer more CPU but if you find the server slows down I can back that off again, Overviewer takes much longer when we are adding new discovered chunks than it does just updating existing ones.
2. Overviewer runs once an hour at the 30 min mark. It was taking more than 1 hour to do updates and the script was overlapping. I have updated the script to announce "it is still running" if the previous run is still updating when the hour comes around.
Side note, github activity indicates someone is working on patching Overviewer with more of the 1.19 block types I will likely have to reset over viewer again when it supports more of the mangrove blocks in particular to fix the map..
FYI I am rebuilding the overviewer map it might be incomplete for about 5 hours.. I may need to RE run it again I am playing with some of the settings and have to do a FULL clean render after a change.
Overviewer now renders more 1.19 blocks including the mangrove trees and mud blocks
Also don't forget you can make sign appear on overviewer with the text --POI-- in it. Then when viewing in overviewer just make sure you have toggled on signs.
This is a good way to mark nether portals and other major points of interest on the map.
The Overviewer map now has a status notice in the lower right that is updated by the script.
You need to refresh the page in your browser to get the latest status.
When updates are in progress it will say : Update started [date time] running X min
When the update is complete and no update is in progress: Last Update: [date time] Runtime: X min
This should help tell you if there is something wrong with the overviewer / if the map is out of date.
If the status message is missing it should return in 1 min as overviewer overwrites the html file the script checks once a min to update it.
I have added an Activity heat map overlay to the North overworld render.. This adds some time to the render but it adds an interesting indicator of where players are active.
The area is fairly wide as I believe minecraft counts any chunks in your render distance.
It SHOULD be rendering a gradient of the last 10 days (default is 30) where full red is today, and no red is greater than 10 days.
This render requires a FULL render to fade off untraveled areas so I have set up the script to only do these between 1-4am PST and do normal faster deltas during the day. So ACTIVE areas should show up quickly (within about an hour base on current render times) where inactive areas should fade off daily.
Looking to see if there are any other interesting things I can tweak in over viewer.. Might try a cave render again but with how much renerated lava and light there is underground it might just reveal too much unless everyone doesn't care about that.
This is so cool, thanks for setting this up Lazy
I haven't been able to see player's locations on the map since at least last night.
p.s. Could the number of homes we can set be increased? I'm already up to 9.
Homes limit is actually set to 100 now.
Will look into the player locations issue, I think it depends on an external service to grab the player skins.
The player location issue appears to be a recent bug in overviewer. I got some confirmation over in the overviewer discord.
Player location is working again on the overviewer map as a broken update was rolled back by the devs.
I kept getting booted a lot today, which I initially thought was due to ISP issues at first as I was having problems with other services, but after those got resolved it kept happening and then I realized it was only happening while I was breeding turtles, which I've since learnt is a known issue that can cause server problems.
So if the server was behaving weirdly, it was probably my fault.
According to the Discord bot it was just you on the server today. Do you have a link to a known bug for the turtles or if there are workaround like applying more ram for the MC server?

Here's (https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-114206) a link from the buglist. I just googled turtles server issues and a whole lot of results came up.
I stopped doing any more actual breeding by the time of my last post, and I've been killing off adult turtles as baby ones mature to keep the numbers down, which seems to have made things better.

I migrated a while back not sure about everyone else
I migrated, too, I think. If not, I can do it if needed.
I'm also on a migrated account.
Ok then I should be able to change the server to secure mode the next time I find to restart it and no one is online.

Is overviewer still using 1.17 textures? I notice that the mangrove plank texture doesn't render. You can see here (https://rwov.contentcubby.ca/#/1038/64/1210/max/minecraft%20-%20overworld/north), with the rightmost wooden structure in front of my base. It should be the same as the one on the left, but you can see where the planks are missing.

Overviewer is set to use 1.19 textures however overviewer still has missing 1.19 support.
https://github.com/overviewer/Minecraft-Overviewer/issues/2046
It is hard to follow exactly what has been committed and what is just a pull request still, someone is currently working on a more general model render vs the hard coded one OV uses. I keep OV fully up to date automatically from the main branch.
I should note that "ACTIVE" explored areas should auto update when support improves but a full re-render of the map may be needed at some point.
Ah well, a waiting game it is then. ;)

I just checked login it's working for me
It's working for me now.
I had the same error a few days ago, but that time it was working again within half an hour.
Very little server activity.
Looks like activity on the server has reached near zero..
Anyone still interested in the server?
I am thinking about dialing back the over viewer updates to once or twice a day as even with no changes it still uses up quite a lot of CPU and I have some other projects I would like to allocate that to.
If there is zero interest in the server I can just shut it all down / suspend it till interest returns as well.
Overviewer will now only update at 1:30 AM and 1:30 PM.. If server activity picks up or if I get inspired I might change it so it updates based on if someone is online or not.
Also FYI the Overviewer project is no longer actively maintained so it might break after future Mincraft releases.
Due to some RL issues I haven't been playing lately, but there is still more stuff I plan to do when things return back to normal.
When the weather gets colder I'll probably be playing more
Spent some time working on the overviewer script.. It will now detect when players are online.
IF players are online it will run every hour on the half hour while players are online.. Otherwise it will only run once or twice between 1 to 3:30 am Pacific time to ensure it captures the daily heat map and any changes that may have been missed when players logged out.
This should keep resource use lower on my end.
Very cool
Quote from: Mr. Analog on October 13, 2022, 07:17:28 PMWhen the weather gets colder I'll probably be playing more
The weather is another reason I haven't been playing as much, as it's getting warm enough now to spend time outside.
FYI I will be making a number of home networking changes over the next week or so.. There may be disruptions to server access as a result.
In general I try to check if people are online but not always.
Hah, so I was online just now and lost connection :P Oh well, I'll come back to it again some other time.
Sorry man, moving over my firewall configs etc.. Edgerouter -> OPNSense
My External IP changed and I had to re-do my DYNDNS config..
For the most part the external services like minecraft and overviewer will "likely" not be further disrupted and should be back up now.
I will be doing some short maintenance over the next hour and will need to reboot the server maybe one or two times.
Server changes for today should be complete.
The server version has been updated to 1.19.3.
I have performed some changes moving around the server and overviewer docker containers.. Should work exactly the same but let me know if you have any issues.

Perfect, works great and everything was in the right place
Thanks man!
Can we upgrade to 20?
Server is now on 1.20 .. of note the server crashed and rebooted on me twice while I was testing it. It does auto restart but it takes about 2-3 min.
I did notice it updating a LOT of player attributes and of note the datapack mods all had to be updated so if there is any data loss in your HOMES that you have saved that might suck.. I did test my first two and they worked fine however.
Turns out the crash was actually due to the server running behind / lagging and minecraft having an auto kill that reboots the server.. I have increased the wait time, I am hoping the performance issue is just temporary as it starts to cache things etc.. but let me know if the server is unplayable or something.
Will do! Thank you kind sir
I think the performance problem has been traced to overviewer, it is getting even slower as the map expands..
Don't think I will have time to investigate other map options as this time so fingers crossed it still works well enough for now.
Your efforts are greatly appreciated
Server was pretty stable when I was on today, chopped some trees, did some minin' some craftin'
Looking at my next big build... I need more stone lol
I think Overviewer is messing up a little - spawn and Mr. Analog's area are just showing up black when I go to view it. Hopefully you have a little time to investigate / turn-off-on something?
The overviewer project is dead / no longer maintained so it may be a compatibility issue with 1.20.The only option might be a new map tool.
We should hold a funeral. It's been a great tool over the years
Are there other tools like Overviewer? I remember looking in the past and not seeing anything that really stood out.
Quote from: Thorin on June 12, 2023, 01:42:06 PMAre there other tools like Overviewer? I remember looking in the past and not seeing anything that really stood out.
I created a separate Overviewer is dead (https://forums.rwoc.ca/index.php?topic=12483.msg105114#msg105114) thread a while ago with a list of NEW / Current alternatives. I have done some reading but have not had time for testing.
Bluemap is the one I am leaning toward / have looked into the most.. However there is more documentation on running it as a MOD on a MOD server than stand alone.. However I have also learned that some mod servers like https://papermc.io/ stay very close to 100% current by updating / tracking the snap shots so that might be a path if even JUST to run utility mods like a map replacment.
The server has been updated to Server Version: 1.20.1
The server is now running https://fabricmc.net/ instead of just the official server
I have turned off updates on the overviewer map and I have configured BlueMap with a mostly default config.
BlueMap: https://rwbm.contentcubby.ca/ (Rendered with https://bluemap.bluecolored.de/)
BlueMap 3D renders the map so you can fly around and see it from different angles etc.
The Map is still rendering so you may need to refresh the page but once it has updated it should update in near real time AND have live player locations.
This is something else. Great choice
Both Fabric and BlueMap support additional mods. I may make more changes if I have time.. I had pre-researched most of this already but it took a few hours to get this all working AND to get it mostly automated so I can KEEP it up to date.
Fortunately the Minecraft Docker (https://docker-minecraft-server.readthedocs.io/en/latest/) server I use has automations to pull vanilla tweaks AND fabric mods and updates automatically on rebuild once configured so I think everything will be good, I just needed to learn a few parameters after testing the components needed.
Well I look forward to playing a lot more
Thanks for all the effort
I have setup two new threads to keep the server status thread a little more quite.
BlueMap (https://forums.rwoc.ca/index.php?topic=12496.0)
Fabric Mods (https://forums.rwoc.ca/index.php?topic=12495.0)
FYI the mindcraft server will be down for several days due to an upcoming move.
The server will be for sure offline Sept 17-20 but may be offline before and after those dates for a few days as well depending on my priorities.
I will try and post here with more precise info but if not just expect some downtime over those days.
Thanks for the heads up!
Quick reminder that the server will be down for the 17-19 or maybe longer as I am moving and will have to rebuild my whole network. However looks like activity is fairly low with the last login about 6 days ago.
The discord bot that announces players online offline and bluemap will also be offline.
Server should be back up.. I may still be moving some network equipment around but I expect minimal disruptions.
Awesome thanks 👍
Can we upgrade to 20.2?
Server updated
Server Version: 1.20.2
Note that bluemap offline player markers may be missing or broken, I don't have time to test right now but this mod for bluemap would not load due to dependencies.
Thank u!
Can we upgrade the server?
Server is now updated to 1.20.3 , which appears to be compatible with a 1.20.4 client.
This is the highest I can go at the moment as we have TWO version dependencies.
Fabric API (https://github.com/FabricMC/fabric/releases)
and
Bluemap (https://github.com/BlueMap-Minecraft/BlueMap/releases/)
Bluemap only goes up to 1.20.3 at this moment.
We also have several datapacks but they tend to be only major version sensitive.
As a reminder you can ALWAYS hold back or change your version on your client to match the server.. I can't have the server on auto update for the most part as dependencies are strange and some upgrades break things so I will always be a little behind the main release but not much.
Thanks for everything man!
Server Version: 1.20.4
Bluemap published a compatible update this morning, the server is now fully up to date on 1.20.4
Awesome thanks!!
Server Updated
Server Version: 1.20.6
Thank you!
Reminder you can always set a specific version in your launcher that is older to be compatible, however I can only update the server when the slowest to update dependency has become compatible.
IN this case bluemap took a long time to get an update.
2 things:
1. Tree cutting mod isn't working
2. Chickens aren't dropping feathers or meat (they still drop XP though)
Will see when I can get to it, for reporting the issues.
Might not get to it until 1.21 drops as I will have to re-check all the compatibility for everything at that time anyway.
However I will see what I can do.
Sounds good
Good news is that it looks like both vanilla tweaks and bluemap JUST dropped 1.21 updates.. haven't check them for issues / completeness yet.
I can hop in and test after work!
I was close but a little off.
FABRIC is not yet available as a normal release compatible with 1.21 and BLUEMAP is still an RC.
Until these are "official" releases I can't load them via the management tool I use to make running the server easy.
If one of them is going to be delayed a long time I will consider manually working around it.
Track fabric here https://fabricmc.net/blog/
Bluemap has a RC https://github.com/BlueMap-Minecraft/BlueMap/releases but I need the release to be hosted on Modrinth https://modrinth.com/plugin/bluemap in order to auto load it.
Our server consists of a few addons.
FABRIC which is the actual server that includes mod support for mods like Bluemap
Bluemap the live mapping software
Vanilla Tweaks a few quality of life data packs https://vanillatweaks.net/
Bluemap 5.2 launched today.. I probably do not want to break the whole server tonight however as I will be busy tomorrow.
Btu I will try and do an update to the server Wed or later.
Perfect! Thank you
Good NEWS:
The server is now running Server Version: 1.21
I have also updated Bluemap to 5.2 however this was A BIG update so it is currently rebuilding the complete render from scratch. However doing some testing on what has rendered it seems to look and perform better!
BAD NEWS:
I miss read the release on vanilla tweaks.. the resource packs where updated to 1.21 but the DATA PACKS have not been updated. THis means teleport and other functions are not available at this time.
If you think I should role it back let me know however I suspect that those will get updated SOON ish and I can just reload the updated ones when that happens.
Thank you for upgrading! I'll try and get on tomorrow
The vanilla tweaks data packs are estimated to be updated in about a week.
Chickens drop loot again woohoo
Datapacks have been updated for 1.21, tested home teleport and tree chopping.. Let me know if there are any issues but the list at the start of this thread should all be there and updated for 1.21 now.
Perfect thanks!
Might have to do some exploring
Server has been patched and updated to Server Version: 1.21.3
Server has been updated to 1.21.4
I have also migrated it to a slightly faster host so it should perform better.
Thanks Lazy! I'm planning to get on there this week

Let me know if there are any issues. I typically only spot test by signing in then using some of the addons like TP to see if they still work not much more.
Since giving it slightly more resources on a new host I am not seeing any "can't keep up / behind x ticks" warnings anymore so there should be less lag, blocks popping etc. It was running fairly underpowered but since we only have 1 or 2 users most of the time no one may have noticed.
Sounds good 👍
