Title: New dedicated server games with persistent worlds?
Post by: Lazybones on January 09, 2025, 07:47:27 PM
Anyone know of any new interesting games that have a hostable dedicated server? (probably ruling other older known games like Terrara).

Just curious.. as it makes for a fun place to hang out and interest in Minecraft seems to be at an all time low.

I was maybe thinking Satisfactory..

Ark, Minecraft, Terrara are ones we have run in the past.

Don't forget Starbound!

But yeah I'm interested in this as I'd like to get more social with games

Modding up the Minecraft server might also be an option as well but I think something new might be better.

After looking through a bunch of games I didn't find many new ones that looked interesting.

I started going back through minecraft mods however.

Would be nice to have a server only mod like with datapacks but they only tend to go so far. There are some rather substantial modes that must be run both client and server side that are kind of wild.

Yeah its kinda difficult to run modded Minecraft without client mods...

Same here. I'm not sure if I like the battling to progress kinda thing. I have Rust, building and surviving are fun but it's one of those games where you have to make your own fun

Honestly I'd like to play some Terraria. I might fire it up this weekend for the heck of it

Icarus has been popular lately with a group of friends. It's also one you can easily run a server for - I am hosting it for them currently.

But thinking of this group, Satisfactory MP might be more like the Minecraft experience.

Icarus gives off Ark vibes for sure.. Interesting.

Does it have horrible upkeep like Ark (decay / hunger while offline) or is it more just a struggle to advance and explore?

The wood era for sure has horrible decay, but after that, once you get into Stone Work the decay drops off significantly.
