According to Gamespot, the
PS3 HDD will have Linux preinstalled, pretty interesting, especially for those who enjoy current game console OS hacks... ;)
I saw a comment that sort of makes it seem like this is more of a move for sony to cover its butt than anything else.
1. Cheaper to export a computer than a toy with lots of processing power.
2. Running linux is about the only legit reason for owning a mod chip. The DMCA in the US stats something like, its ok to reverse enginer something if there is no alternative given by the manufature.. This way sony can use the DMCA against any mod chip maker because they have already allowed the linux OS to run on the system.
