Hey Mel my no-tanks av disappeared already, you're soddin' quick! Not getting much work done at work today eh ;)
I helped Melbosa search for fourm software when he had trouble getting IpB going again.
phpBB was probably the best board that supported all the features that RW usesd and had active/healthy on going development.
phpBB is used on some of the largest fourms on the net http://www.big-boards.com/
- There are many mods
- There are many skins
- It was one of the few boards that could fully import Invision powerboard
- Supports RSS, Polls, and a Calender with mods.. Surprisingly many forums don't support all three of these.
- Bloat that you would see client side can be nearly eliminated with a different style. There are many Light CSS based styles.
- Because of its maturity there are many admin controls built in as well as admin mods. A good admin interface is important, that why Invision and VBullitin are popular.

RSS Feed DetailsYeah that was a nice one that Shayne posted, but I found a better one that will work off login and also works as an ATOM one too.

Attachment Mod - no because I don't have the space on the server to store all types of attachments and my bandwidth is always a consideration. So unfortunately I won't implement this one.
Hmmm split doesn't work the way I thought it would. Moderators make sure you know the difference between the two buttons. One on the left works like IPB, one on the right splits from first check box on.

Remove Sig/Avatars - This is one mod that will take a bit of work to implement. It requires SQL modifications and physical changes to webpages. Don't know if we want to go this far with MODs?

Probably want to avoid mods that alter the webpages too much.. It will probably create conflicts with styles and create formating issues.

True but might have a problem or two, as most of the mods I see work like this. There are a couple I know we would want, like the Moderator Merge Topic system.
is there a mod that keeps the "unread posts" unread until i press a link to have them marked as read? I find that im coming to the forum seeing 2 boards with new topics, check the first, go back and the other forum is now marked as read. Also has the same issue with threads. 5 threads unread, but as soon as i view one, they all become marked as read.

Redirects in 3 seconds. To reduce flooding.
This might only be a FireFox thing, but the view "last" post button on the left side of the "New Post" search doesn't seem to work, but the view "last" post button on the right side (next to the last posers name) does.
Weird!

How about a MOD manager to make installing these things easy?

I really liked the old InVision function that allowed you to say "Find All Posts Between X1DaysAgo and Today/X2DaysAgo... Unfortunately it seems the closest thing is the Search, but it requires at least one keyword.
The reason I am complaining is because I did a "show new since last on", which worked great. But when I did a shift-click of each link, and was going to read each one as I waited for some agents to run, etc. well guess what? IEXPLORE.EXE went boom, the opened windows were cremated, and now the PHPBB thinks I already read them. :( So I had to go section by section, and look at the last-post date
Anyone know of a built-in function, or a Mod, that allows for more easily finding all-posts-in-date-range?

When 9% say "Poor" (i.e. the lowest rating) you gotta know something's wonky in non-Wonka-land. But the "posts in last X hours" Mod was 100% "Excellent" if I recall :)

OK this one is installed, only downfall is that it does not work with ezHyperShadow because it uses a different menu system. So if you want to see this, you will have to use a different skin.

Not a big deal anyway, couldn't use yet as it doesn't work with current version of table structures (SQL does not parse during install properly).

By the looks of the time, we are going to need this MOD
http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=156902
Or we could just manually change our time settings. Which would you guys prefer? Problem is it looks like this MOD might conflict with a Calendar MOD that Lazy and I were planing on implementing.

The numbers are a bit off since we did the conversion. Like the user post counts...sure i have 1900 posts but its says i have like 40% of the forum, well you (Darren) also have 40% and Mr.A has 60%...gooder math.
**edit**
The numbers look fine on the stats page, but very wrong in the profiles pages :P no real issue, it just makes that % thing totally useless.

Its because of the conversion, as some numbers count actual posts and some count posts that were there before conversion. Also it says that the most posts we had in 1 day was Aug 15, 2005 - 3467 posts, yeah well that is when I did the conversion. So it might take a year for the stats to really level out. But hey you wanted it, I provided it.

MANUALLY changing the date when in Daylights Saving Time is no big deal, so don't worry about the questionable mod. Plus keep in mind within a few years the USA will make it so DST is 11 months per year ;)
Topic calendar (http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=150857&highlight=calender+calendar) has been added to the fourms.
Calendar items are added as regular topic posts. At the top right of the forums you should see an arrow and the word Calendar. Clicking on this will expand the preview, currently set to 7 days. If you click on the Calendar Icon in this preview mode it will take you to the full calendar.
Mousing over events should popup a preview of the first post and clicking on it will take you directly to the post if you have permission to view it.
I will be starting another post aobut what else we can do with this feature.
Quote from: "Ustauk"Is there a setting to go to the last unread post on a thread, or am I just missing something?
I finally figured it out, though I'm not sure if its always been there and I just noticed it, or it just got added. When you mouse over a thread, a right facing arrow in a circle surrounded by a squarish boarder appears. If you click on that arrow, it takes you to to the new posts. If there are no new posts, it takes you to the top, and if you hold your mouse over the arrow a tool tip will tell you if there are any new posts.
