Title: XMethods + MindReef = automated prank calls?
Post by: Darren Dirt on September 12, 2005, 10:22:58 AM
Boy, and I thought SKYPE (http://skype.org/) had potential... (PS: I'm registered in Skype as darrendirt, if anyone wants to add me -- my brother and I are gonna use it as a sorta intercome system for upstairs/downstairs :).)

XMethods + MindReef = automated prank calls?

Visited http://services.xmethods.com/ -- don't flame me for visiting a site about SOAP, yes I know newer protocols etc. are better...

I noticed the "TRY IT" feature.

I noticed the "Phone Notify" web service, published by CDYNE.

(quote)Calls any US/Canada number and reads back the text in the method. Demo it without a key!(/quote)

Soze I innocently and optimistically clicked the following link, chose NotifyPhoneBasic as the method, and entered in my own phone #, text "Holy Crap, Lois, does this really work?", with a fake Caller ID and the name "Peter Griffin":

Yes, Holy Crap, it *does* work :O :) :D
