Can't remember if I've seen any of us post this before. I didn't even realize they had a section like this. Looks like they highlight the games of old, one per article. Being doing it since 2003 looks like. Kinda freaked me out when I went to Gamespot today and saw FFII on the list of games at the bottom.

Some gooders in there (I love bad english). Brings back memories... and man have I been playing games for way too long :P
Lode Runner (who DIDN'T waste hour upon hour designing levels on graph paper for the Apple ][ version running at school :))

Rayman 2 (one of the FUNNEST games I've ever played, because a lot of the levels are freakin' hard -- me and my son, quite a few weekend afternoons spent taking turns -- good times, good times...)

Pitfall (original Atari 2600 VCS -- still fun as I play it in my mind in fondness, plus there are websites where people capture on video them speed-finishing the whole game!)

Moonwalker (I'm slightly embarrassed to say I played this in the arcade - and it was actually fun!)
"The premise of the game was simple. You had to save the children from Mr. Big ..." <-- please folks, keep your punny remarks to yourself...

*trivial fact: Wackojacko is not the best-selling artist of all time - see the surprising performers who have Texas outSold 'im (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_selling_music_artists)*
Smash TV (still one of my favorites of all my Gamecube games -- on the Midway Collection #1 -- because of its no-investment, gameshow-voiced, mindless cartoon violence :))

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Awesome!
Ah yes, Ys!

There are a couple things they missed mentioning about Ys. First off, the reason why the music was so nice because with the TurboGrafx-16 Nihon Falcom was taking the first steps of any gaming company into using RedBook Audio (with spectacular results). Also in addition to the contributions of Michael Bell the final bosses of Ys are known to be difficult. Kick your ass so hard your teeth fly out difficult. This is especially so as the Ys games have a level cap where you can get no stronger (and thus can't out-level the boss). When you finally manage to beat Dark Fact (Ys I) or Darm (Ys II) you got a real sense of accomplishment from it. Not quite "reduce you to a grease stain" hard as some hidden/optional bosses, but they were just that: optional. To save the world, you had to go through those guys!

Samurai Showdown 2! Good pick, excellent pick! I have no clue how many quarters I sunk into that game but what they say about Ukyo is very painfully true!
Why would anyone play "why's" ;) haha
Yes, SSII was a brilliant game that actually, IMHO, improved on the concepts that made fighting games stand out. *sigh* the good old days of fighters...
