Title: Acts of Gord Love the Gord, Fear the Gord
Post by: Darren Dirt on March 08, 2006, 04:54:18 PM
Must be fun working in a place that rents out games... to idiots!

I skimmed through "The Book of Chronicles", some amusing tales of woe and misery in there... But no fire raining down from The Heavens, how disappointing.

Yes, certainly dispells the "joys" of owning a gaming store...

Ha! I haven't seen this site in ages!

I own a copy of Alundra purchased from The Gord himself (indeed, it was The Gord's own copy of it). He sold it to me on the cheap despite it being rare nowadays. Amazingly well kept, booklet in perfect condition, not a scratch on the CD (this game is notorious for becoming very difficult to play if there's even a single scratch on the CD). Nice guy, especially if you pay promptly and be polite. ;)

Going through this is very ammusion,  especially if you've ever worked retail.

Although i though:

"Do you rent VCR's?"

"Nope.  We're a video game store.  We strictly do video game related products."

"Then why don't you rent VCR's?"

"Well, VCR's aren't really a game machine.  They are used to watch movies."

"Well, how do you hook up a PlayStation to an older TV then when the TV doesn't have A/V jacks?"

"I sell little devices which are called RF adaptors that hook up a PlayStation through the cable adaptor.  They sell for $12.  Or rent for $1 a day."

"Oh."

Is a bit harsh. I could see that being an easy mistake for anyone not being techinically inclined to make back in the day, as many people with a standard tv back then were told to use their VCR's.

The above example, yes I agree that's harsh and not exactly compassionate or understanding. But a lot of the stuff on the site is quite funny, especially for some of us who worked nigh a decade in retail :)
