Most of you probably already know that it only costs a little more to get the SHAW SOHO package over the standard consumer highspeed. On paper there are only a few differences.
- 24 hour support
- moderatly higher download caps
- currently $6 / more expensive.
The kicker however is in that support.. Up until this month I was on consumer Highspeed + I-Extreme.
I have been haveing some latancy issues and download speeds around 4.5 Mbits instead of close to 7 like I should.
I called support (regular support) and was given every excuse under the sun from having spyware to using FireFox to run the shaw speed test.. So after a very offensive few min they said they would disbatch a tech.. Tech came in about a week, ran a speed test, did nothing and left.
So remembering that SOHO supposedly has better support I upgraded to SOHO.. Called support about my speeds, wasn't asked about spyway, my browser.. Just was given some tests to run, and after a check on the techs side he discovered that the router my connection goes through is near full saturation.. I ask him when this would be fix and he said there isn't much he can do but report my problem and give me 3 months of I-Extreme for free in light of the poor speeds.
Well I was a little happier knowing what was going on but dissapointed.. However a day later, that exact tech called me to do a followup and report that the router will be upgraded within two weeks...
That is the difference between SOHO and consumer support.
I will have to wait two weeks though to see if this is really resolved but it sounds cut and dry.
And hense why I love the Support with Shaw business vs Telus business accounts. This was a huge, huge, HUGE! sale feature once I switched. I couldn't believe the service level they offered on the SOHO account compared to the crap I was getting from Telus Business support.
"I spit on thee"!
...ive been on SOHO for well over 2 years now and ive said this constantly to all that i know "The support is just better"
