Wow, just saw Garden State last week, and I *love* this completely unexpected twist of the movie plot/theme/genre:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=iZ1318KFSZk&search=Garden%20State%20Recut
^ it actually gave me chills :o
Also most of you have surely seen the classic (that possibly "started it all"?) http://www.youtube.com/results?search=shining
Any others you guys have found? (maybe http://youtube.com/results?search=recut has more... YUP! 8) )
^ the above, wow, Sleepless in Seattle... wow :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frUPnZMxr08&search=recut

OMG! Office Space + Xmen3... with Milton as the cornerstone mutant...

...or how about if Milton got onto a "revenge" kick?
Office Space + The Fugitive + Contact, ID4, Die Hard 3, Speed, T2, and Armageddon :o
(pretty lame actually -- although a nice collection of scenes with sweet asploding firebally goodness)

:D this one's pretty darn nicely done:
audio from the trailer for Michael Mann's "Heat",
video footage from Bottle Rocket. ;D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgB_fHgiJK0
Ah yes, Bottle Rocket, starring everyone's favorite "stoner" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VwK3w_nyiA) :o
Ya, some of those can be really good.
With good editing software and fast PCs this sort of thing has become much more accessible.
WOW.
Just found this rather unique (and very well-done!) mashup:
Titanic 2 ("The Search For Jack?" ;) )

YT user "LifeInThe80s (http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=LifeInThe80s) has a few as well, including the creepy "A Christmas Story (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r8QTZeDJkc)" :o
And, a la Garden State's "murder mystery" theme...
Titanic: the "TRUE" story of what caused the great ship to go down ;D (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zry2M6G5Mkg)
new one:
Scary Mary (Poppins)

The original
Wicker Man is actually a great movie, too bad this second, crappier one had to show up and ruin it.

Mr. Cage apparently realized it was supposed to be at least semi-campy, once he heard about BearSuit+LadyPunch , but presumably much of the rest of the cast/crew took it way too seriously ::)

I think it might have worked as a comedy given the cast and screenplay... the original is somewhat of a B-movie and was still better than this dreck...

No,
Logan's Run can only be remade as a "teen musical" flick
Quote
I was a Sand-man but now I'm a run-ner!
We've got a runner! We've got a runner!
They say there's a way out but no one has been there!
We've got a runner! Yeah! We've got a runner!
. . .
Actually I think Hollywood should just pick one movie and remake it over and over to see what the end result of a few thousand bastardizations creates.
Case in point; read H.G. Wells
The Time Machine, then watch the 1960 George Pal version and then watch the Simon Wells version. You will note that the Pal version is based on but diverts from the book in many ways, the Wells version is based on the Pal version but diverts from the film in many ways. I figure if they remake it about 5 or 6 more times it will be a buddy cop movie with two love triangles and a CG hip-hop robot.
Well at least the GOOD news is they will be doing a "reboot" of the Spider-Man franchise...
anyhoo, back to the thread topic, so amazing to have this long-running thread not get hijacked too often ;)

(watching the above, my first thought was "King of Kong", tbh ... what a geek I am, eh?)
(upon reflection, the emotions stirred up, though in mockery, actually reminded me of how enjoyable the experience was in watching a particular (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388139/) excellent though mostly-unheard-of mockumentary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It's_All_Gone_Pete_Tong) "It's All Gone Pete Tong" -- if you are a fan of dance/electronic/DJ music/culture at all, do yourself a favour and seek out a viewing, totally worth the time. Some guy on IMDB even said it is "achingly rewatchable (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388139/board/nest/129036004#152673521)", very true!)
Okay, I'll agree that "It's All Gone Pete Tong" was a good watch. Although when he's tripping and then trying to detox after going deaf was absolutely surreal and not my cup of tea.
You know the horn-heavy music from the "Inception" trailer?
Looks like (sounds like?) it's pretty popular in "serious" trailer recuts and remixes... and for some of them, it really works!

meh it doesn't work because the way the original was set up you were supposed to think this guy was nuts, not so much of a stretch, now if they recut his scenes into a romantic comedy or a buddy road trip THAT would be really well done :D
I think the ending shot, as well as the one in the middle where they do a slowed-down framerate as Toby is staring through the blinds, looking soul-dead in his eyes, that's perfect.
And remember, Toby isn't evil or Satan or a rapist, only Michael Scott sees him in that light.
