Because I think last Thursday's episode "200" was probably one of the funniest TV SciFi episodes I've ever seen! I just got to watch it last night, as I play ball on Thursdays. Even if your not a fan, or never watched the series, I think this one would have made you laugh. Anyway, thought I'd see who are fans here.
Ya, I watched it last night.
"... No, it is OK as long as you hang a lantern on it.."
"..what.."
"... As long as you have a character point out how convenient it is the audience will no it was supposed to be.."
"... If you are going to rip something off it needs to be more obscure.."
''... I have no idea what that was..."
"The audience will never see that coming..."
"There will be spoilers..."
"Na he'll be in the comercials..."
I watch it, and really enjoyed that episode. It was amusing to see all the Stargate as ... parodies, particurlarly the Star Trek and Farscape ones, and I found the in-jokes and plot convention jokes quite funny.
Nothing like a "WTF?" when the show first started. I also enjoy when a series makes fun of itself, its actors, its history, and its future, especially how well they did in this one to make it seem like just another episode, but about themselves as actors.
And here is one for ya... is there a Movie coming or Not? ;)

I've heard rumours over the years about a movie based on the TV series, but I've also heard rumblings that the creators of the original movie wanted to do a sequel outside the SG-1 continuity, since they were never satisfied by it.
That was awsome... I was laughing so hard at some of the puns they made at them selves. I loved the reference to Farscape... and the part where Claudia Black said I wanted a small re-occuring part then it developed into something I wanted to be in all the time.
That is why they are still going strong. 200 episodes and 10 years. who thought one movie would make a series such as this one.

Yeah just saw something on that a week or two ago, sequal will have nothing to do with SG1.

It was a 100% Farscape (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farscape) being so obscure many geeks just don't get it. Take a look at this image (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Farscape_cast_season3.jpg) and you will clearly make out the characters they where mocking. Also farscape has a living ship hence the back drop in the scene.
See, I love Farscape and I have to grab this ep! Too funny!

I heard that as well. It's sad to see it go, but ten years is a very good run. I just hope they either have time to wrap up the story properly, or else Sci-fi gives them a TV movie or two to wrap things up. Atlantis has been renewed for another season, so at least we still have that.
Hard to keep running the origonal and it's spin off at the same time. Although I think the last episode of Atlantis was only so so.. You get tired of the, "it is all an illusion" type episodes just as much as the holodeck episodes on STTNG.
IMDB boards:
yup, it's cancelled

Is this ever a pisser: http://epguides.com/StargateSG1/ (http://epguides.com/StargateSG1/)
And have checked a couple of guides... no release date for the continuation of The Quest, nor is Atlantis scheduled until Mar 07... boo!
Seems like a huge gap to me... anyone else? What is it with SciFi? BSG is the same way with huge gaps mid season.
Ya, I noticed Atlantis all of a sudden went on hold...
However Battlestar is back on so not all is lost.
As long as Stargate has been running on Sci-fi, the season has been split in half, in a summer season starting in about July and ending in September, and a winter season running from January on to about April. They did this with Battlestar last season, but this season its going to run straight through. You can usually get the winter season a week or two earlier by tapping the UK feed, and the Movie Channel may also have Atlantis running earlier, since they run that straight through in one go from September.
I have noticed Atlantis playing on Movie Central HD a few times recently, but I don't watch it much and have no idea if those were new episodes or repeats.
Doh, didn't realize that they split the season like that... makes sense why in season 6 they started having cliff hangers in the middle of the season. Just recently I wanted all 9 seasons back to back, so I didn't notice that until you pointed it out Ustauk. Guess its normal... still a pisser... I want to know what happened :P.
Oh well, Heroes and BSG should keep me sane till its back on.
Oh, from what I heard, SciFi canceled SG1 to "get back to its roots" with more StarTrek (Enterprise iirc) reruns. They canceled a show, in order to run a canceled show. Makes sense to me! Also interesting, SciFi's roots ARE SG1. SG1 is what MADE SciFi what it is today, and wham, bam, thank you mam, you're canceled. Again.
According to Gateworld and other sources, Stargate will go on in the form of two straight to DVD (http://gateworld.net/news/2006/10/istargate_sg-1i_movies_coming_to.shtml) movies. The first will conclude the Ori storyline, while the second will deal with time travel. It's suspected that the SciFi channel in the states may broadcast these, as they've broadcasted other direct to dvd features in the past.
Oh man, can't wait for these.
Hey, so I finally found my "Jack O'Niel" shades on Wednesday, but now I've lost all my game controllers and memory cards :(
WHAT THE HECK, and I just bought a couple games for my PS2...
Sorry to rez this thread, but something wierd is going on.
According to the eps guides I can find, Atlantis is on hold until March of 2007 (eg TV.com (http://www.tv.com/stargate-atlantis/show/11415/episode_listings.html?season=3&tag=nav_bar;3)), yet I just found The Return Part 2 posted on TVTorrents? Anyone know why?
Cova said might be out in europe, but I duno.

Actually, it appears to be on our very own Movie Central, according to this post (http://forum.gateworld.net/showthread.php?p=6018748#post6018748) on the gateworld forum. The prior posts were doing a countdown :) The best part is, the Movie Network out east aint getting it :) So for those of you who get Movie Central, the schedule for repeats can be found here (http://www.moviecentral.ca/cgi-bin/schedule2/2006/show_nfo4WE_HD.cgi?), though the episode is mislabbled 50 instead of 51. Movie Central did the same thing last year, starting the season beginning in September instead of July and running the whole thing through in one go, therebye getting ahead of the States by November. Sky One in the UK usually starts showing both Stargate's in October or so, and ends up a week or two ahead of the States after taking a Christmas break. Thanks for the info, Melbosa.
Stargate fans will get a kick out of THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4KbFhFCwsk) "battle of the 80s hair" video clip :D
Apparently there is a third Stargate series in development.

CREEPY!
According to Gateworld (http://gateworld.net/news/2006/12/studio_planning_on-going_isg-1i_.shtml), MGM has no wish to continue with another season of SG-1, but they are willing to pursue further straight-to-DVD movies should sales justify them. I guess we'll have to see how the first two do.
I don't think the SG team is all that interested in more SG1 seasons.. Seeing as they are also dropping Atlantis.
Minor Spoilers below!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MGM has revealed the story outlines (http://gateworld.net/news/2007/01/mgm_reveals_movie_storylines.shtml) for the two Stargate SG-1 TV/DVD movies:

MGM reveals movie storylines
Monday - January 15, 2007 | by Darren Sumner
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer today officially announced that it has greenlit the two Stargate SG-1 movies in development, which we reported on earlier (story): Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum. The company also released the first solid plot details for the two films.
Beware of spoilers below! Here's how the studio describes the storylines:
Stargate: The Ark of Truth
"As SG-1 searches for an Ancient artifact which they hope can defeat the armies of the Ori, they learn more Ori ships are about to be sent through the Supergate to launch a final assault on Earth. Daniel discovers that the artifact, the Ark of Truth, may be in the Ori home galaxy, and SG-1 embarks aboard the Odyssey to find it, and pre-empt the attack. The I.O.A. has a plan of their own and SG-1 ends up in a distant galaxy fighting two powerful enemies."
Stargate: Continuum
"While SG-1 attends the execution of Baal, the last of the Goa'uld System Lords, Teal'c and Vala inexplicably disappear into thin air. Carter, Daniel and Mitchell race back to a world where history has been changed: the Stargate program has been erased from the timeline. As they try to convince the authorities what's happened, a fleet of Goa'uld motherships arrives in orbit, led by Baal, his queen, Katesh (Vala), and his first prime, Teal'c. SG-1 must find the Stargate and set things right before the world is enslaved by the Goa'uld."
The first film will enter pre-production in March and begin filming in April, with an expected DVD release in the fall.

I wonder how many they gotta sell to break even. You could guess a million dollar budget each...50K maybe? Probably a pretty profitable venture for MGM, have to wait and see.
Ive watched up the end of Season 5 but grew very tired of the constant battle with the same foe time and time again.
QuoteIve watched up the end of Season 5 but grew very tired of the constant battle with the same foe time and time again.
Thats funny, they get a new one just after that afaik.
Ya, i catch a newish episode every now and then. Seems sorta similar to the old. I will probably catch up once I catch up wiht the movie scene.
Sky One in the UK is airing new episodes of SG-1 on Wednesdays. They're currently on episode 12 of season ten.
