The reaction to this in the "official" news media is friggin' hilarious!

There's already a shirt for it!

"The cartoon also includes two trouble-making, 1980s-graphic-like characters called "mooninites," named Ignignokt and Err -- who were pictured on the suspicious devices. They are known for making the obscene hand gesture depicted on the devices."

Idiots. Calling the gesture "obscene" is rather subjective, methinks. Can't even say "flipping the bird" or "giving the finger"? At least that would be factual, not just an opinion. ::)

PS:
"The Graffiti Research Lab, creator of the LED Throwie says (http://www.boingboing.net/2007/01/31/led_ad_campaign_igni.html):
You may have heard about the most recent terror attacks in Boston. This is NOT the work of the Graffiti Research Lab. We just downloaded this link from youtube. It?s Just more mindless corporate vandalism from a guerilla marketer who got busted. Interference Inc, welcome to the world of being misunderstood, scapegoated, demonized and wanted by the law. Still want to be a graffiti artist? For more on this most recent terror attack from the axis of evil (corporations, advertisers, marketers) check out this civic-minded citizens post on Flickr."

::) Sad that GRL needs to clarify they had nothing to do with the "recent terror attacks".

It's for the sake of the Audtrailians who when they see the "bird" it means "stop your car please, I'm a hitch-hiker"

Yikes!

The Turner Broadcasting spokeswoman ACTUALLY said (http://cbs4boston.com/topstories/local_story_031135507.html) "...We regret that they were mistakenly thought to pose any danger."

But what did the CBS4Boston.com headline summarize that as? "Turner Broadcasting Regrets Marketing Ploy Behind Bomb Scares".

Notice any spin on that? CBS makes it sound like Turner was regretting using a bomb scare in order to market their product", i.e. it sounds like Turner *intended* people to believe there was a real threat of bombs. :o

Idiots, I guess this is the post-9/11 version of "If It Bleeds It Leads" -- "If it might cause fear, that is all you'll hear." >:(

Quote from: Wonkette"They were all Time Warner billboards, in other words, in what has been the most embarrassing response by a city to a nerdy cult tv show since Minneapolis called in the National Guard to fight the robot menace posed by Mystery Science Theater 3000."

Quote from: Engadget"Strangely, Turner stated that these viral ads have been in place in 10 major cities for between two and three weeks, which leaves one to wonder why no one noticed the strange, pixelated cartoon characters flipping the bird until just this afternoon, and just in Boston."

Wikipedia continues to expand at a frightening rate -- especially in the area of pop culture trivia etc.

So it should come as no surprise that these 2 new articles are quite lengthy already...

Also, "Frylock" is doing Honda SUV (http://automobiles.honda.com/element/elementsc.aspx?SkipInstr=True) commercials now...

Leave it to National Lampoon...

Jack Bauer vs. the Aqua Teens! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWUaQVZHzyI)

Quite well done, how they mixed up scenes from the last 2 seasons (including Da Valencia Nuke).

And also gotta say, Frylock scares me now. :o

Well the release has happened.

And big shock, fans love it and clueless* folks hate it (http://forums.righteouswrath.com/index.php/topic,4678.msg32745.html#msg32745) ;)

"In a cinematic landscape where truly original ideas are rarer than floating food, recklessness like this deserves to be appreciated. (http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/movies/bal-to.aqua13apr13,0,4529196.story?coll=bal-movies-utility) Not understood, but appreciated."
^ anyone else suddenly *really* want to see this baby in the theatres, surrounded by others laughing non-stop, the same way that "Borat" was absolutely not a "wait for DVD" movie?

one guy said: "I'd like to highlight the bit about the opening sequence. Wait for it on Dailymotion if you must, but it was constructed well enough to make it required viewing."

but another just let the air out of this surrealist/dadaist-loving fan's tires: "Love the Aqua Teens and am ticked to find out they're not releasing this in Canada. WTF? Sure, it's gonna be on dvd in another month but I wanted to see it on the big screen *pout*"

pout indeed. :(

- - -

* except for some non-fans:
"I have no idea what Aqua Teen Hunger Force was talking about, but most of the time, I was laughing too hard to worry (http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/movies/bal-to.aqua13apr13,0,4529196.story?coll=bal-movies-utility). ...Aqua Teen Hunger Force eschews any semblance of logic, convention or narrative in favor of an addictively gleeful anarchy. Everything goes, so long as the results leave audiences laughing and scratching their heads, wondering what could possibly come next."

Celebrating one year later, a group of artists installed several LED-based artworks around Boston yesterday.

QuoteThis is interesting - it seems that a group of artists have celebrated 1-31-07 in their own way and have created a series of political themed LED art sculptures and (you guessed it) placed them all over Boston. Pictured here, Bush & Bin Laden... Click on through to see more images and if you're in Boston the locations are listed to go on an art tour. Get there before the robots do.

Those LED things are the new LEGO, methinks... I WANT!

"Where Were You When..." (http://bostonist.com/2008/01/31/never_forget_fi.php)  ::) ;)

Quote
Peter Berdovsky (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Boston_bomb_scare#Background) (aka Zebbler or that Dude With the Huge Dreadlocks) sent out an electronic postcard reminding us of the day the city of Boston was felled by an ill-conceived promotional stunt for the "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" movie. Berdovsky and his accomplice-of-sorts, Sean Stevens, appear to have moved on with their lives, but, as shown in the image above, they still can't resist that little electronic critter who gives everyone the finger.

Berdovsky in particular isn't shy of self-promotion and has been trying to make the mooninites work for him. He's starting a record label, named Vermin Street in honor of Boston, and is doing a show at the Good Life on Saturday, March 8. Even if the city would much rather Berdovsky move somewhere else (ahem ... Maureen Feeney ... ahem), it's unlikely that he will.

Meanwhile, look back with us as we remember when the Mooninites fell to earth, the mayor and the governor fought the Cartoon Network (and won), and Berdovsky and Stevens gave the media something they'd never forget.

Feel free to share in the comments--where were you when the Mooninites attacked?
