Title: Digital Chicanery
Post by: Mr. Analog on February 26, 2007, 08:51:24 PM
We all know how much photoshop goes into making magazine images look good, but this page really illustrates it.

Kinda makes you sick when you see enough of these. So many people TRY to look like these images but it is so fake.

The best ones are where body parts (or proportions) are changed to inhuman properties.

Ultra thin waists, Bigger boobs n booty, not to mention not a wrinkle in sight.

The line between reality and artistic interpretation is very fuzzy, that's for sure! And I too think that it's sad that girls (and some guys too) feel like they have to adhere to this kind of standard. They might as well be comparing themselves to Wilma Flintstone or He-Man...

Me, I'm more of a "Comic Book Guy" LOL!

Fake. Seen him in real life, and he's totally touched up. Not even close to as handsom as this guy.

:P

Whats funny is some of the women don't even look like the same person after the "touchups".

I think I might actually show #2, #3, and #5 to my kids and point out to them that what they see in magazines shouldn't necessarily be believed as true - a healthy dose of skepticism will do them well in life, methinks.

You should dig up the stars without makeup images as well. It is even more frightening.

Well, I don't want to frighten them, just let them see that those too-perfect-to-be-true images really are not true.  That way, hopefully they don't waste their lives trying to live up to something that's unattainable.

Except that #5 is a bit frightening.

related find: a slideshow of a dozen or so celebs with vs. without makeup...

As some of the comments said, Mariah doesn't actually look half-bad without, but the others... yikes -- the Helent Hunt "without" photo almost looked like Richard Belzer (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001938/) :o
