Title: No more Dragon and Dungeon magazines
Post by: Thorin on April 20, 2007, 01:31:14 PM
Wizards has officially announced that it will stop publishing the magazines Dragon and Dungeon:

This is the end of an era, but did anyone here ever buy and read these magazines?

Man! This sucks! Dragon has been around for a loooong time and it was always full of interesting stuff and campaign ideas, interviews with game designers, hilarious D&D comics like Nodwick and sometimes even little game modules.

It will be missed.

P.S. I had a subscription for 3 years to both magazines...

Hah.  Nerd! ;)  Just kiddin'...

The article mentions that they're moving this kind of stuff online, since that's where they figure most people read D&D stuff nowadays anyway.

I actually have a few issues of Dragon/Dungeon I bought off the shelf from the ol' comic store. They were pretty neat, and good reading considering how thick they tended to be. There were some great story hooks printed as well as the comics, articles, and letters. If I remember right, the magazines introduced me to the Elric Saga - a series of books I would have otherwise not known about.

Too bad Wizards decided to tank the hardcopy magazines. They did serve a purpose.
