To begin with, Dutch people have an unhealthy obsession with "Kabouters" (gnomes/little people). For instance, google for "Pinkeltje". You'll find that he was translated into English as Fingerling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fingerling), although I'll always remember him as Pinkeltje.
