Title: Slashdot turns 10
Post by: Mr. Analog on October 01, 2007, 11:07:16 AM
Wow, ten years of whiny nerdly goodness. I joined back in 1999 after my Java instructor (http://"http://slashdot.org/~djKing/") mentioned it during class one day, I can't believe it's been around as long as it has and I can't believe I've been a registered user for over 8 of those years.

Yes, it's slow and old and stupid and full of idiots and trolls, but I love it (not unlike IRC).

Ha! There's another site that's slow and stupid and full of idiots and trolls, but I love it (not unlike IRC) that's celebrating its' 4th year anneversary today. It's a small 'net after all!

It's kind of fun to think back to the time when you first visited a site and started visiting regularly. Some things never really change.

Hmm, a lot of similarities between Slashdot and 4Chan...

Their "party" page includes some in Cowtown, as well as River City (http://slashdot.org/anniversary.pl?view_id=137) (@ The Black Dog, apparently)

I am conflicted by the concept of a Slashdot party.

Much like frag it could be your chance to reach out and punch a real live troll. Unless no one shows up because they are all anonymous cowards
