Title: The Simpsons Game
Post by: Melbosa on October 25, 2007, 09:01:48 AM
Ok, I am always skeptical of these games (TV Cartoons - Console Games).... wondering if they will be one for the kiddies, or only mildly funny, or mildly entertaining.  Not since the old Arcade 4 player Simpsons game have any of them really held my attention.  The Futurama one was funny, but boring.  Family guy one was kewl to play with each of the family members, but got boring too...  Simpons Hit and Run was probably the next best one to the Arcade.

Now they are about to release a new one, and I am still skeptical.  The one thing I notice though about this release is that the game isn't making fun of some movie, tv, political view, etc... well it might be in some spots, but it looks more like they are making fun of other games.  The trailers I have seen so far pun at Destroy All Humans, Zelda, Everquest, Medal of Honor, your typical Japaneese Puzzle Game, and maybe more.

Check out these trailers and see what I mean:

I'll probably end up renting this one first, but might want to own it, especially if it is co-op!

The demo isn't that bad but the controls are far too complex for the type of game it is.  The graphics are rather stunning and the "voice & animation" are pretty unbelievable.

Hmm, sounds interesting. I saw the MoH video a while back I wasn't sure what it was all about at the time though...

Simpons Hit and Run was probably the next best one to the Arcade.
Simpsons Hit and Run was certainly better than the Arcade.

FYP! ;)

Yeah, which post exactly?

Simpsons + Video Game is like any other property translated into a game, it rarely works, and when it does it's mediocre.

The Simpsons arcade game pwns Hit n' Run by far though man, you gotta admit that.

While rare, their are occasions where it works fantas (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/921671.asp),tica (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/197462.asp),lly (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/914860.asp).  This Simpson's game has potential and as I said, the controls were the only thing that I felt were lacking...almost as complex as Splinter Cell.

Just noticed a handful of videos on Break.com, in the same style as the TF2 intro videos (" Meet The Pyro" (http://my.break.com/Content/Search/Search.aspx?m=all&p=all&s=The%20Simpsons%20Game) (etc.)

I have yet to rent this one and check it out.

And seeing as though Shaw should be giving me a call this month about bandwidth you can just imagine how much content I have to go through before even getting to renting again.
