Title: Kids Say The Funniest Things
Post by: Thorin on April 02, 2008, 08:58:50 PM
We had an "Internet slow-down" here for about twenty minutes.  I tried releasing and renewing the DHCP-assigned IP address for my router, but of course it wouldn't renew.  So I said, "We've lost the Internet.  I can't contact it." (meaning no ping to google.ca and microsoft.com)  My son said, "Maybe we can get it with Internet Explorer?"

Gotta teach him about the seven layers of the OSI model (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSI_model) soon...

Also, both my son and my wife actually looked *sad* when I announced a lack of full-time high-speed internet connection...  I think they're addicted :P

They weren't even using the computers, they both just had that look of, "Oh my god, the internet's not available, now what will we do?"  Then they went on with what they were doing (getting ready for bed and watching TV, respectively).

I remember the good ol' days where you had to wait for someone else to end their phone call to the BBS so that you could get on!

When the internets were down at my house last month during a weekend, I had to actually *shock* step outside to find out what the weather was before heading out with the kids...

Apparently you don't have Windows...  Wait, windows.  Man, capitalization carries so much meaning when talking about computers :)

Know whats slightly amusing? I have 4 windows, and 4 Windows in my livingroom waiting to be installed. Though I'm pretty sure the windows will be the only ones that get installed!
