Title: Where did the universe come from?
Post by: Mr. Analog on April 06, 2008, 03:37:20 PM
QuoteMichio Kaku: There are several proposals for what happened before the Big Bang.

Next time a child asks where the universe came from you can get them up to speed with current thinking in this nice concise description:

I like that after he poses some theories, he actually suggests how we may go about proving if those theories are correct!  Seeing is better than believing...

Hear him on the radio several times. He's brilliant, yet can speak down to anyone's level. Wish he was my physics teacher in university.

*TONS* of video clips on da youtube (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Michio+Kaku)... him and Mr. Greene (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Greene) are doing a great service, approachable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popular_science) inspiration to the next generation of cosmology theorists (even if they can't rap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MC_Hawking)).

In this video generation, science has to be fun! (http://www.noob.us/entertainment/alkali-metal-water/)
