an interesting video that some guy put together that somes up what, exactly, CERN will be doing in August of this year...

in 3 days, the CERN Doomsday device is going live O_O

CERN RAP!
note: LHC, not HLC *slaps forehead*
Funniest headline Of The Day: "Large Hadron Collider to Go Online This Week Despite Death Threats"
http://www.dailytech.com/Large+Hadron+Collider+to+Go+Online+This+Week+Despite+Death+Threats/article12884.htm
I don't know why, I just found it funny, the image of a fear-filled sign-holding technophobe shaking a fist threatening a big magnet or something...
I wouldn't take the technophobes lightly, just look at what the environuts (Greenpeace) and animal freeks (PETA) have done in the past.

It's really frustrating to predict the end of the world. When you turn out to be right, no-one will thank you, and when you are wrong, you're an idiot.
The pro particle bouncer people have it easy. When they're right, they get a laugh at the protestors expense, and if they're wrong... no-one is left to care.
Perfectly put. ;D

True. [insert Jake Busey scene from Contact]
For every animal a vegetarian doesn't eat, I will eat two.
Ahhhh Maddox....

Scientists have patiently explained to those concerned many times that the most recent research shows that cosmic rays hitting the Earth daily have more powerful particle collisions than the LHC would. "Nature has already conducted the equivalent of about a hundred thousand LHC experimental programmes on Earth - and the planet still exists." ...Each collision of a pair of protons in the LHC will release an amount of energy comparable to that of two colliding mosquitoes...
Don't confuse me with the facts! ;)
Well, if in doubt of the results of the first LHC experiment all you really need is a crowbar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_Freeman), a shotgun, an orange HEV suit, and a willingness to shut up and get things done.
Freakin' headcrabs. Freakin' Combine. Freakin' rip in the dimensional fabric.

Y'know, I'd use the gravity gun to get coffee...
Geez Mr. A -- just noticed the new av; you got HL on the brain?

YES
Speaking of LHC and HL,
(http://www.allegro.cc/files/attachment/596278)
I don't think we have anything to worry about!
When the head crabs come, I'll be the one wearing the hat.
How the LHC really works

Well the LHC is Teh Broke.

I blame Jake Busey.
