Title: "Spaced" -- UK cult comedy hit (Friends meets Family Guy/Northern Exposure?)

"Spaced" is like watching the cartoon of the life of the average SFX reader or Ain't-it-Cool UK talkbacker.*

I just stumbled upon this, I think as a "related" link on Amazon or something.

I'm thinking of picking up the "complete series" on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0019MFY3Q/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance).

So I did a quick search on YT and found the pilot ep easily (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Spaced&search_type=&aq=f) -- jumped to about half-way and within 30 seconds shouted "SOLD!" (the voice in my head, of course, since I'm at work)

Anyone watched the 14 episodes in the 2 series? Is it really as funny as ep#1 all the way through? Sounds like a brilliant premise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaced), and it works so well right up to the 22minute mark that I had to keep holding in my laughter. So just wondering if/hoping it never ran out of steam :)

*comment from IMDB'er (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0187664/usercomments?filter=custom;start=47), nice!

I also heard (shudder!) they are working on an Uhmerican remake (http://www.televisionaryblog.com/2008/05/where-pilots-go-to-die-foxs-spaced.html)... The Office US happened to work at as pretty damn awesome, but that's an exception for sure...

To call Spaced a pale imitation of the original is actually quite insulting to pale imitations everywhere. No, this US remake--written by Adam Barr (Will & Grace) and directed by Charles Stone (Lincoln Heights)--is quite possibly one of the worst things I've ever seen and that's saying quite a lot.
:o

Crap, I just spent fifteen minutes reading all about Simon Pegg thanks to following that link...  Wikipedia, how you suck up my productivity!

What's funny is, maybe 70% of the IMDB threads for it are all about how the US remake will (or DID) suck (apparently it was a pilot that just totally missed the mark) ... and the other 30% are whining about how awesome the show is but North Americans, including huge Britcom fans, are unaware it exists (hence the difficulty getting a DVD out here; finally available now though).

I never heard of The Office until Carell told Stewart the night before the premiere that it was... the night before the premiere. After that I have recognized Ricky Gervais as the genius that he is (Extras is amazing, I've only seen a few clips on Youtube but am considering DVDLibrary:Add() for it :sigh:). I wonder if Spaced will do the same for me re. Mr. Pegg...)
