Title: Awesome Games
Post by: Mr. Analog on September 03, 2008, 10:52:59 AM
If you made a short list of games that really stuck out to you as being "awesome" what would they be?

A short list?

Devil May Cry
Goldeneye 007
Metal Gear Awesome
Trilby's Notes
I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream
God of War
TF2
Astro Boy: Omega Factor
Samurai Sho*down 2
Bangai-o (though lots of people prefer Einhander, Ikagura, or the first Front Mission)

"Without appearing didactic, Ellison has the ability to hit us squarely in the face with a mirror reflecting the sorry lot that we humans have become. He has been fully involved in the production of Scream and even plays the voice of AM, the seedy and sinister. He seeks to disturb us. He seeks to upset us. He seeks to frustrate us." O_O

That it is good sir, that it is! From great source material (which is not unlike getting gut-punched with paranoid dystopian survivalist visions) came a great game. It's darn hard to find nowadays but man, talk about your moody games. AM's speech at the end gets me every time. It's powerful stuff and that's why to me it's an awesome game.

If you can't find it to give it a try Darren, I strongly suggest you give the original story a read. It's trilling!

Eternal Nemisis which is an adventure game based off the Sherlock Holmes book where he squares off against Arene Lupin has potential to be awesome too but I still need to try it out. :P

Since X-Com was mentioned I thought I would point out a deal on steam to get ALL 5 games for $14.

There is also an i.d. games pack that includes a pile of titles for $34.99, however other than commander keen the rest are all FPS.

Deus Ex.

(of course.)

Lemmings -- if you can get the Atari ST version (via emulator) the 2player mode is pretty much the most addictive late80s/early90s videogaming experience you will ever have the joy to discover.
