Title: 2 cult-hit TV shows summarized to save you time...
Post by: Darren Dirt on March 26, 2009, 04:08:47 PM
...because at some point you'll realize you just can't dedicate that many hours to "get it" like all your friends.

"Heroes" Seasons 1-3 summed up cynically*
http://jgoat.blogspot.com/2008/12/heroes-011-narrative-ponzi.html

and "LOST" Seasons 1-4 summed up in "song"
http://jgoat.blogspot.com/2009/01/lost-023-refresher-updated.html

*and with a fresh perspective! "Also, Sylar wasn't a psycho, he was a sensitive soul with serious issues of insecurity and a desire to be loved by his mommy. He sponged powers by using empathy."  ;D

Holy plot contradictions Batman! "JGoat" did a weekly summary (http://jgoat.blogspot.com/search/label/Heroes) of Heroes with the same sense of humour, the same detail, and -- based on various comments -- the same sharp accuracy in his cynical summarizations. Almost wish I still cared about the show, so I could justify watching Seasons 2-3 and laughing out loud at how correct JGoat is...

Almost.

Yeah, after I realized it wasn't going to end properly after one or MAYBE two seasons, I stopped watching before Season 1 was done. I figured it might have still been decent if it finished off with the second season, but I was told there was to be a third (or possibly more) season which made me shake my head, they only had enough plot/planning for one season, stretching it much past one would have made for serious suck, stretching it past two? Thats horrible territory.

What's really horrible (or laughable?) is that, based on what I have read coming from even many of those who were insta-fans, the above quoted text could apply to EITHER of the two shows.  :o

But at least it's not like "24", which rumour has it, would be shooting the first half of a season while the writers were figuring out how to end the bloody thing (a la ST:TOS) !!

What is interesting is Battlestar managed to hold it together with the writers mostly making it up on the go, the key difference is that there was a built in design for it to end, all they needed to do was fill in the journey.

Sounds just like the unparalleled brilliance that is "Curb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curb_Your_Enthusiasm#Concept)". Just change "writers" to "actors" ;)
