So i have been on a course all week and during the breaks the instructor has been playing episodes of "The IT Crowd".
I heard of it before but after sitting through a couple of episodes it really has grown on me and some episodes are hilarious.
Worth checking out..
There are only 3 seasons so far and only 6 episodes a season, so it they go by quickly.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_IT_Crowd
never heard of it.
;)
Chris Morris (aka Mr. Reynholm) is insufferable... in other words, amazingly hilarious. Check out clips from his other famous works,
"Brass Eye" (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=&search_query=Chris+Morris+Brass+Eye&aq=f)
and
The Day Today (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=&search_query=Chris+Morris+The+Day+Today&aq=f)
(Thanks, Wikipedia and Youtube!)
Oh, and didjaknow, there's a fake-corp site:
http://www.reynholm.co.uk/projects.php <-- remember that Japanese merger?
also includes a page dedicated to the grunts who keep everything afloat (http://www.reynholm.co.uk/it.php) ;D
Love this show. It's great! :D
"Team team team team team team team! You think this is a picture of my family? No. It's of the A-Team!"
Wow, they even put together an ACTUAL "FriendFace" website, complete with Moss (http://www.friendface.org/pg/profile/moss.m) as a member. And lotsa "___ team" groups (http://[url=http://www.friendface.org/).
And extra-wow:
http://www.01189998819991197253.co.uk/why.html ;D
I love that show!
tee hee!

gets you into: http://www.reynholm.co.uk/intranet/
And, alas, I feel kinda disappointed now (http://www.reynholm.co.uk/disclaimer.php). But still funny site.
Also, if you like britspoof, somehow I found "Darkplace" (http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_d_h_?url=search-alias%3Ddvd&field-keywords=Garth+Marenghi%27s+Darkplace&x=9&y=16) as a "related" link on Amazon -- it seems to be along the lines of, what if Stephen King was British and took him not-quite-seriously... (gotta love YT (http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=BFFE07BBB58B2115) ... omg it's like the 80s with choppy editing horrible continuity and over-acting ... quite simply BRILLIANT STUFF!)
Wow, I'm surprised you hadn't caught onto this show a lot earlier, Lazy. It's right up your alley!
An interesting tidbit:

Distribution
Each episode was initially distributed online to UK customers only, in DRM'd Windows Media format. Naturally, a show called "The IT Crowd" attracted attention from code monkeys everywhere, and the DRM was cracked to make the show available via BitTorrent in about five minutes. The DVDs are available on Amazon.com, and the torrents are probably still up today. It is unquestionably worth a watch.
There sure are a lot of tech in-jokes in that show, and yet non-techies still laugh their heads off at the plentiful jokes.

I believe the same goes for "DarkPlace (http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=BFFE07BBB58B2115)", even the young generation who never suffered through bad 1980s "dramas" or don't like "horror" would get a kick out of this show (which is done by the same people as The IT Crowd, I especially love the DP character played by the guy who is Maurice, typical hard-ass boss who woodenly bellows out orders to the unorthodox hero...) See my above link, if you enjoy The IT Crowd I believe you'll become addicted to DarkPlace instantly. PS: it's more fully enjoyed with headphones; the TwinPeaks-esque musical soundtrack, and especially the disconcerting way they re-record the woman's lines ;D
This IMDB thread lists a few dozen britcom shows that some of you might like to watch (or re-watch)

I'm surprised that I've heard of, and enjoyed watching at least some clips from, all of these:
The Day Today
Brass Eye
Garth Marenghi's Dark Place
Man to Man with Dean Learner
The Office
Extras
Red Dwarf
The Young Ones
Spaced
...not sure if that means my taste is "good", or twisted...
HOLY GOD!! I thought everyone was plugged in!
I'll just put this... with the rest of the fire...
Season 4 has just started...
About time!
Unleash the Torrents!
everybody get your Reynholm Industries ID cards ready!

That's hilarious! Also, gotta go find a torrent tonight...
Woot woot!
I completely forgot about this until a couple of days ago. Then I downloaded the first four episodes of season four. Gotta say, it's gotten kind of weird. Funny weird, but still, weird.
Thorin its always been weird. remember the goth they used to hide behind a door?
No Rae, it's gone beyond that. I too found it very weird, and almost not as enjoyable as the earlier shows.
iunno maybe they r about to jump the skark... or run into a bomb robot ;) oh wait...

Richmond was weird, but having Richmond in the show made sense (a show about socially-inept IT workers). Compare that to season four episode two, where you have to understand what the show "Countdown (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countdown_(game_show))" is and what its cultural references are, or season four episode three, where Roy gets kissed "on the arse" by a masseur - at the end of that episode I was just kinda shaking my head saying, "wha-a?".
Season four episode four was much better, going back to poking fun at Roy and Moss for being socially inept. Season four episode one was good, too, even if you don't know who Fredo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fredo_Corleone) is. Although episode one didn't leave me laughing, it left me with a tear in my eye for how Moss helped Roy.
I don't know I have enjoyed each of the episodes for season 4 with maybe the spaceology one pushing it a little.

That's the "kissed me on me arse" episode.
