I think content is actually a lot easier to find, and that more people demand more direct content than ever before.
I only skimmed the article because it was quite dense and there was no summary (arrgh!) kinda helping me make my point. I think in the early days of the web, essayists could post thick volumes of work hand-crafted to literary perfection, but these days people just want the information without the fluff.
